The Strathcona Ceremonial Mounted Troop in 2018 performing a re-enactment of the last cavalry charge on the same land that the soldiers from 1918 charged on!

This event was so incredible! Thank you to Paul Kruhlak , Spruce Meadows & others for making this happen.

Redwater Natural Area Today, 06May2025 Starting from15:18hrs MST. I heard what seemed to be the last plane of the night fly overhead at 00:30hrs. Thank you for flying so well during this tumultuous time. Thank you to the ground crews as well. There were half a dozen other fires set within two hours of us. I hope everything turns out ok for everyone else.

The fire did not move north of Township Road 580 despite what the emergency alerts were indicating. You still need to be prepared in case the fire takes a different direction. I learned that the RCMP are using the wrong map for this area... Oh well... Those that needed to move, were moved! It all (kind of) worked out for the evacuation. I believe everyone and their animals were evacuated to safety.

This was an eye popping night. began in the eastern sky then connected with the southern oval/arc band of the . For a moment, I looked at my camera to press the button for another shot and when I looked up the entire eastern sky was illuminated. I asked out loud to no one as I was the only one out there "Are you for real?" Then it got bigger and brighter!

Quite amazing for me to see the southern part of the oval/arc in the south sky AND the northern part of the oval/arc in the north sky. As I faced east, I had a green curve to look at on my left and right! That set me right in the middle of the band of the .

cluster is visible above the tree so those who know where the seven sisters are located will see that this photo was taken facing the .

This facepage will not allow me to upload the panoramic photo I created from the east sky to the south-west sky. That is unfortunate for you, the viewer.
