Took this photo while in a vehicle going 60 mph in the middle of the desert. With what looks like probably the coldest temps of the winter here in central Alberta (potentially-45 with wind) I wish I back on this road. I’m sure this dude is still out in the desert, drink of choice in hand, Watching the rat race wiz by.

Not all working hands look the same. But this man has been driving the same 12 hour bus route in Indonesia for ten years. The amount of times that hand has grabbed the gear shifter and his sinewy for arm muscles grinded the gears into place is unfathomable to me. It is all about to change tho, they just put in a super highway that will cut the drive time from 12 hours to 2. Many people who travel to Indonesia will no longer have this dreaded but memorable ride, and this man may no longer be grinding gears.
