***The End Of An Era***

It is with great sadness to announce that I have decided to retire the Twisted Chasers Team. I have given it much thought in the last little bit and figured it was just time. It has been a pleasure getting to know everyone in the storm chasing community as well as all the followers. I just want to focus more time on family and other projects.

Don't worry though, the team will live on through Dan Madden, who has been an amazing Assistant Team Leader. He has been helping out with the team since near the beginning so it only made sense to have him lead the new team. I'll post the link to the new team when they are ready.

Thanks again for everything. It's been quite the journey.

Looks like another night of smoke, but the winds of change will be coming by the weekend. Smoke PPM is sitting at 354 in Calgary which is down from the 549 we had seen yesterday.

Over Lethbridge and Calgary flying north at 36,000 ft.

A G4 geomagnetic storm sparked unbelieve aurora hitting a KP index level of 8 on March 23rd. This was view over Lethbridge from 36,000 feet just prior to descent into Calgary.

A brief but beautiful display of Aurora last night while the KP index reached a level of 5. This was the view just north of Calgary.

***The Sun***

A photo of the sun as seen thorough a solar filter on a telephoto lens. The noticeable dark spots are called "Sun Spots". These are spots of strong magnetic field lines, and are responsible for the Northern Lights we see on Earth. Several members of the Twisted Chasers team monitor these sun spots to forecast the Aurora Borealis. As we climb to Solar Maximum in 2025, we will continue to see the number of sun spots increase.

Cloud watchers were treated to various orographic cloud formations last Friday in Calgary. This is a panoramic view of a Chinook Arch passing over head that offered a very photogenic scene!

A very photogenic shelf cloud with a large hail core moved through just north of the city. Here is what it looked like on the east side of it.
