Well, the forecast was for level 2 (out of 5) Aurora Borealis(Northern Lights) last night ... they were a no-show, but at least the sky was interesting!!

I managed to find a decent location from which to photograph some of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) last night/this morning. Quite a show to watch - my neck was on a swivel as the magnetic storm produced incredible visuals from all directions.

"The intense auroras were spawned by a series of massive solar flares and coronal mass ejections that erupted from the sun earlier this week, flinging wave after wave of charged solar particles toward Earth. Those particles slammed into Earth's magnetic field Friday, triggering what space weather scientists called a level G5 geomagnetic storm — something Earth has not seen since the truly epic solar storms of Halloween 2003." - NOAA officials
