๐Ÿป What if the wildlife you didn't expect became your favourite memory?

For this Flashback Sunday, we're looking back at our first guided trip to Alaska to see Alaskan brown bears in the wild.

One of the moments we'll never forget was watching a mother bear lie down and nurse her cubs just 50 feet in front of us. It was a rare privilege to witness such a peaceful family moment in nature.

But some of our favourite memories came from the unexpected. Colourful puffins diving from the cliffs. Playful sea otters floating nearby. Wildlife encounters we never planned for, but will never forget.

That's the beauty of spending time in truly wild places. You may come hoping to see bears or whales, but nature always has surprises in store.

It's one of the reasons we're so excited about our upcoming Grizzlies & Whales Nature Experience in the Great Bear Rainforest this August. Every day brings new opportunities to witness grizzly bears, whales, sea otters, eagles, and countless other species living wild and free.

โœจ We only have a few spots remaining.

If you've ever dreamed of experiencing wildlife in one of Canada's most spectacular wilderness areas, we'd love to have you join us.

Moments in Nature

Earlier this week Stan experienced his 1st moose calf sighting! Seen lots of bulls & cows in his life but never a baby - & then for it to be twins!

She first tried crossing the busy highway but the newly born calves, less than a week old, didn't know how to step over or under the barb wired fence. So she turned back and led them further down the field to a farmyard they could cut through.

When she came out to the highway, the traffic was too busy, so she lead them back into the safety of the bushes. We slowly left her so she could teach her young ones some new lessons of survival.

What a moment in nature! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’œ

Moments in Nature - ๐ŸซŽ "First Lesson"

Sometimes the best wildlife moments aren't the dramatic ones. They're the quiet lessons happening right in front of us.

Earlier this week we came across this mother moose as she prepared to cross the road with her newly born twin calves. She glanced back and realized her little ones were trying to walk through the barbed wire fence instead of stepping over or under it.

Rather than continuing on, she turned around, gracefully jumped the fence herself, and led the calves farther down the field to a nearby farmyard where there was no barbed wire to navigate.

What a wise momma!

It was a simple reminder that even in the wild, mothers are teachers. Every day brings a new lesson, and for these calves, their very first lesson was an important one:

Sometimes you have to go over obstacles, not through them.

Moments like this are why we love spending time in nature. Wildlife isn't just beautiful to watch. It often reflects lessons we can apply to our own lives.

Have you ever witnessed a wildlife moment that taught you something unexpected?
