I find it very challenging to share anything truly personal on social media. Those who know me best know the last few years have been a struggle. I feel like I have turned a corner and I am playing again creatively. Stepping back from teaching every weekend was a hard decision, but the right one for me. I am finding the joy in creativity for the sake of creativity again …. Not to sell… not to meet the expectations of others…it’s so good. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊Do I like close ups of faces? Yes. Do I like painting people that are not smiling… Yes. Do I enjoy a lot of colour. Yes. Do I care what anyone thinks? Not about this… Not anymore. This is for me. These are my current work in progress of a theme I am playing with.

I love painting portraits. This little work In progress is a 10x10 inch acrylic on gessoed cradled board. Prepped and sketched on the weekend and this is progress after an hour or so. I paint fast to start then slow way down near the end with lots of short painting sessions and ‘Let it marinate’ breaks. Some pieces just flow better than others
