It’s giving moody, it’s giving contrast, it’s giving mature… it’s giving me life, frankly. I posted, not so long ago, about a throw back to having done Tyne’s headshots a decade ago and funny enough, she must have felt a shift in the force or vibrations of the universe or something, because by complete coincidence (she hadn’t seen the post!), she called me a couple of days later saying “hey! It’s been ten years! Can you do a new headshot for me?”

Of course I was happy to help and it was good to see her, plus I am so pleased with this portrait - regulars might recognize the now favourite background, but stylistically, this actually turned out like a photographer from Alberta whose work I quite admire, but wasn’t intentionally trying to replicate. But you know for sure I’ll be trying to create something similar in the future!

More business portraits, though this was from back in March when I had a chance to work with a team from Scotia Wealth Management - I always do enjoy the chance to bring my studio out in the world and sometimes it’s easier for business groups to come to them so that it’s just me having to drive around rather than multiple people in multiple vehicles. Another recent shoot I did, this one with Holly whom I’d met at an mixer awhile back - she’d mentioned she needed new headshots and I said I would love to help her out - as an expert on brain health, I couldn’t help myself peppering her with questions about how to make sure my brain stays sharp cause man… there are some days… but she took it all in stride, and looked great while doing it!

I thought I had posted this already, but last week I had Nikki in for some updates headshots, last I saw her was two studios ago, way back in 2021 (and what a time that was!). She emailed and said I need new headshots, and I was very pleased because it gave me the perfect excuse to use my new backdrop from - I’d run into .patricia at our national convention in Saskatoon where she was selling her amazing hand painted canvas backdrops. I feel in love with the green and I looove how it photographs! I also loooove how these photos turned out of Nikki!

This past weekend I was fortunate enough to attend ‘s annual national Canadian Imaging Conference & Expo, hosted here in our home province of Saskatchewan in beautiful Saskatoon - well… beautiful once the freak blizzard dissipated and the snow began to melt in earnest. Getting to the conference, while not unusual circumstances for those of us in the , you could say we broke in the non-prairie types in earnest!

The best part of the weekend, for me, was meeting a bunch of cool new (to me!) people as well as reconnecting with some I haven’t seen in a few months (or years!) and the community building that happens as a result. I met some kindred spirits, and also got a bit of a jump to my creative batteries! I’m grateful we had the opportunity, and I think we proved that the prairies know how to party !
