Some dresses are worn once.
Others are chosen again… and become something new.

The Thrifted Formal Project is a celebration of second chances β€”
of style, identity, and the moments that shape us.

If your formal look was thrifted, I’d love to include you.

Early Lambing

"Ahhh come'on, get off of me"

Siblings are gonna do sibling things.

For the last 8 years or so, the Topsy Shepherd team has selected a handful of ewes to be part of our early lambing group in the barnyard.

This group includes pets like Nelly and Brownie as well as various other favourites or ewes that need a close eye for whatever reason (like a history of mastitis).

Having this group in a place that visitors may see is great.

It is also nice for our social media team who really find themselves stretched thin to come up with interesting stories after 6 months of snow and mud.

The first three lambs born this year all came at the same time during that crazy rainstorm last Tuesday.

We got them into the barn, dried them off, and figured out which lamb(s) belonged to which ewe.

Boudicca is keeping watch over the flock as best she can.

We've seen a precipitous drop in her energy level in the last few days.

She'll go from being fairly alert to just laying still napping on and off.

She is not portraying any major discomfort which is good.

Housekeeping:

Today (Tuesday) our Jake will be presenting to Queen's University Thrive 365 about Topsy Farms and Wellness (specifically as it relates to outdoors).

There's a link to the online meeting in our Stories.

The lamb snuggle sessions will start mid-May - that calendar is live now on the Topsy website under the Events heading.

First access to this calendar as well as events like last weekend's shearing are released to our Newsletter subscribers first - so please sign up if that sounds like something you might be interested in (link in bio).

Upcoming is a (free) Fencing for Rotational Grazing Seminar/ hands-on build in partnership with our friend 'Judgy' James Clark - that will be on May 1st.

This session will be directed for beginner electric fence builders - though there will be plenty of tips for gnarled wire-stringers as well.

For those in the OSCIA realm, this session qualifies as a Knowledge Share Event (KSE) - a representative from will be on-site to give you a certificate following lunch.

Also upcoming is an event aimed mainly for kids "Seed Balming/Bombing". It starts with a taste of our honey, and will conclude with making mud balls of compost they dunk in pollinator seeds. May 2, under Events on our website...

Topsy Farms was busy this weekend with shearing. They were generous and invited people to join them to experience the task. The weather behaved and they made great headway!! I am so thankful to be able to experience these events at their farm. If you haven't had the chance to visit yet, follow their page so you can find other opportunities.
