Spent some time today on a ride along with Fire Station 1 - Platoon 4—and I just want to say thank you.

Seeing our firefighters in action is always impressive, but what stood out just as much was watching them share their knowledge, experience, and genuine love of the job with local high school students. That kind of mentorship matters. It shapes the next generation and shows what service to your community really looks like.

One of the real privileges of this role is getting a behind-the-scenes look—not just at the work, but at the people. Hearing their stories, learning about their families, their connection to our community, and the challenges they face every day gives me a deeper understanding of what it takes to keep St. Catharines safe.

To Fire Services Fire Station 1 Platoon 4—thank you for your professionalism, your openness, and your commitment to both protecting and inspiring our community.

Join us as - Equal Voice Niagara celebrates its first anniversary with an inspiring evening of connection, conversation, and community, in partnership with the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce.

📍 Falls Manor & Restaurant - 7104 Lundy’s Lane, Niagara Falls, ON L2G 1W2
📅 Tuesday, March 31, 2026
⏰ 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Over the past year, Equal Voice Niagara has proudly advanced its mandate through advocacy, education, and mentorship — working to inspire and empower women to run for office, break down barriers to political participation, and help build a more inclusive and diverse political landscape across Niagara.

This special networking event will bring together community leaders, supporters, and women who are currently elected or running in the upcoming municipal election. It is an opportunity to connect, share experiences, and learn more about upcoming initiatives designed to support and elevate women in politics across our region.

I’m also honoured to be part of the evening for an intimate fireside chat with .unrau - Ruth Unrau, where we’ll talk about my journey into public office — including the challenges, setbacks, resilience, and what it truly takes to put your name on the ballot.

I hope you’ll join us for what promises to be a thoughtful, inspiring, and empowering evening.

While in St. John’s this little bonspiel was happening……something called The Brier.

I went down hoping that I could get a ticket to watch Team Gushue in their last brier. They were sold out. As I started to walk away this very lovely human named Mary asked it I needed a ticket. I jumped at the chance but told her I didn’t have any cash. That’s okay just buy me a couple of beers. Done! I spent a wonderful time with Mary. Thank you Mary!!!

The second trip down to the brier - I had a ticket but alas didn’t. We got to the ticket window and asked if there was any chance for a ticket near mine. And curling miracle of miracles the seat next to mine was available!

Man I love St. John’s.

We also enjoyed a small beverage.

Absolutely amazing time!

This past week I had the chance and pleasure to visit St. John’s Newfoundland for a Federation of Canadian Municipalities Board meeting.

I cannot say enough about what an amazing, incredible, wonderful city St. John’s is. And the people I met were just as amazing, incredible and wonderful!

I will definitely be returning but when it’s warmer!

Thank you !

On Friday night, I had the pleasure of attending the Art in Action VIP opening at is one of those experiences that truly stays with you.

We were given the chance to watch In the Wake of Progress, a powerful and immersive multimedia work by St. Catharines–born artist Edward Burtynsky . Surrounded by sound and image, the work pulls you straight into the story of how human progress has reshaped the planet, often in ways we don’t fully stop to consider.

In the Wake of Progress runs from Saturday, January 31 to Sunday, February 8, 2026, with daily screenings every 30 minutes, making it easy to drop in and experience the work for yourself.

On Saturday, I attended a Fireside Chat with Ed and hosted by former CBC reporter Paul Kennedy.

Hearing Ed speak about his career travelling the globe, photographing the impact humans have had on this planet, added a deeper layer to the work. The images are striking on their own, but understanding the intention, patience, and perspective behind them makes them even more powerful.

Listening to Ed talk about photography reminded me how much I miss the analog days. Hours spent developing film. The quiet focus of the darkroom. Watching images slowly appear in the glow of red light. It’s a slower rhythm, and one I still hold close.

There’s also a personal connection here for me. My digital communications career started at Toronto Image Works - . It was a place where I learned, made mistakes, and felt genuinely supported. That foundation shaped so much of what came next, and for that I’m grateful.

The chance to listen to Ed, experience his work, and revisit my own memories of photography is the kind of art experience that makes you pause, reflect, and remember why you fell in love with creativity in the first place.

Huge thank you to everyone who brought this incredible evening to life at the stunning Niagara Parks Power Station.

As Chair of TourismSTC, it’s always a pleasure — and honestly a privilege — to show off the very best of our region and celebrate the incredible tourism partners who make it shine. From outstanding local cuisine to world-class wineries and passionate winemakers, this night was a perfect reflection of what makes Niagara so special.

Grateful to be part of such an amazing showcase of our local food, wine, and tourism community. 🍷❄️

Big thanks to TeamSTC — especially Matt — and the snow removal crews for giving me the opportunity to ride along for a few hours today while they were out cleaning up the roads.

It’s always great to see firsthand the skill and teamwork that goes into keeping everyone safe and the roads moving.

Opportunities like this give me a better look at how we, as a city, provide important services to our residents. A lot of hard work happens behind the scenes, and these crews do an awesome job making sure people can get where they need to go safely.

Really appreciate the opportunity and everything you all do.

I’m always deeply grateful to be invited and to take part in the Grand Entrance. Through these experiences, I’ve learned the importance of smudging and the care it brings to creating a respectful, safe, and grounded space. Being welcomed with to***co and smudging is a reminder to arrive with a good heart, a clear mind, and respect for everyone present.

As a settler, moments like this matter. Showing up, listening, learning, and offering respect to our Indigenous brothers and sisters is so important. I’m thankful for the opportunity to be here and to continue learning through community, culture, and ceremony.
