I was recently asked by one of my couples if I had any advice for them leading up to their day, so here are some of my top pieces of advice for anyone getting married/planning their wedding 🖤
1. Your day goes by so fast; spend as much time together as you can. This is also how you get cute candids.
2. My biggest regret from my wedding was not eating enough of the amazing food we had (it was a potluck and our guests truly delivered!)
3. This is especially true for photographers because you spend so much of your day with who you choose. If you're looking for a photographer that helps keep a calm/relaxed atmosphere, choose someone with that vibe. If you're looking for a photographer that helps keep a very upbeat energy, choose someone with that vibe.
4. Choose comfy shoes from the start, or have a comfy pair to put on for the reception.
5. This is your day! Do whatever the heck you want!
6. Backyard weddings will forever be my favourite, but there are also so many stunning venue options. I would always prioritize a venue with outdoor green space.
7. Weddings are not cheap. More guests = more money and more people to share your time amongst. Invite the people you want to invite.
8. You might feel tempted to spend all of your time with the people you haven't seen in a while, but don't forget to spend time with the family/friends that are closest to you, especially if you want candids with them.
9. You get very little time to yourselves. Make sure to plan a few minutes for just the two of you after the ceremony.
10. There will be questions about where to park, where to put things, etc. Assign someone you trust to deal with those questions so you don't have to.
11. Print your photos. I can't say this enough. Your photographer would be happy to help!
