My Ate Ophelia story.. Back in 2019, I had never even heard of Saint John, New Brunswick. It was just a name on a map—no friends, no connections, no clue what life was like there. I searched everywhere online, hoping to find something—maybe a page, a YouTube vlogger, anything that could give me a glimpse into the place. But it felt like Saint John was a blank slate.

Desperate to find someone—anyone—I turned to Facebook and searched for Filipinos in the area. That’s when I found Ate Ophelia. I messaged her, asking if she knew of any place I could rent. I didn’t expect much, but she replied with kindness and warmth. She connected me to Jade, who then introduced me to Paolo. And just like that, I wasn’t alone anymore.

They were the first few people I met in Saint John, and they helped me settle in when I had no idea where to start. I’ll never forget that. Their generosity and support made this unfamiliar city feel like home. I’ll be forever grateful to Ate Ophel, Jade, and Paolo—for being my first lifelines in a place that once felt like nowhere.
