My name is Rob Mills and I was born and raised in St. Stephen, New Brunswick. I have built my life here and I love it. Photography began as a hobby for me and as I started showing others what my world looked like through my lens. I received lots of compliments and began thinking that perhaps I could turn this into a business. I bought equipment but then quickly realized that equipment and a good i
nstinct for good photography isn’t enough. I wanted my photos to be great and though trial and error is a good tool, education to understand the fundamentals is the key to the process of perfecting my craft. I learned how to respect and enhance lighting situations so that I am able to capture the essence of my subject, whether this is the delicate beauty of a flower, a unique horizon of a landscape, or the expression of complete adoration between two people. I recently completed the Complete Course in Professional Photography receiving a certificate of graduation from the New York Institute of Photography. The wisdom and respect that I have gained from this course has vastly improved the quality of my shots and forces me to challenge myself and my skills. The most important thing that I have learned is that you can never stop learning and also that there is a monumental difference to taking the picture and getting the shot. I am planning to continue my education in this field and it is exciting. I regularly keep in close contact with both serious amateurs and professionals who share my passion to discuss and trade ideas and knowledge. My business continues to evolve with every assignment and I am discovering that I am now always able to get the shot. I hope you enjoy my ‘Capturing Essences’ albums enough that perhaps I can get the shot you want too.
