Trump is escalating the trade war. 🇨🇦

The U.S. president has signed new executive orders banning most Canadian dairy and alcohol products, including Canadian-made cheese, wine, beer and rye whiskey.

The move is being framed as retaliation for Canada’s latest counter-tariff measures, which came after months of tense trade talks and Trump’s 50% tariffs on hundreds of Canadian products.

Export Development Canada estimates about $778 million in Canadian exports could be affected, with some businesses facing severe impacts due to their reliance on the U.S. market.

Apple’s first foldable iPhone will start at $2,999 in Canada for 256GB, rising to $3,299 for 512GB, $3,899 for 1TB and $4,799 for 2TB. The Duo opens to a 7.6-inch display and features split-screen multitasking, Apple Pencil support, dual 48MP cameras and the A20 Pro chip. Pre-orders begin October 16 ahead of its October 23 release.

Online reactions quickly shifted from the specs to the price, passport-shaped design and possibility of cracking two screens instead of one. The result: flip-phone comparisons, foldable laundry jokes and plenty of reminders that $2,999 is still before tax.

This sounds like something straight out of a horror movie. 😱

West Kelowna RCMP are investigating after a teenage girl was reportedly chased by someone dressed as the Cat in the Hat while walking near Shamrock Drive on Aug. 24. The teen made it home safely. Police say regardless of whether it was intended as a joke, the behaviour is extremely concerning.
