In addition to photography, one of my hobbies is creating digital artwork based on my photos.

This is a photo taken overlooking Lake Ontario from the bluff above as the moon rises.

Due to some camera shake, the original photo had some light smearing around the bright moon, and normally I would have deleted this photo.

I decided to use it as a basis for some digital artwork instead, and here are the results.

Time for some more 'Scarborough Skies'

Autumn offers up some stunning colors at this time of year, however, it is not always the leaves that are the star of the show.

This sunset from October 2nd was so vivid that for a few moments the Sun reflected off of the clouds in the Southeast sky.

A Dragonfly rests on some Honeysuckle.

Worldwide over 5000 different species of Dragonflies exist, with approximately 130 species observed in Ontario alone.

Unfortunately with the continued loss of wetland habitats due to development and climate change, Dragonfly populations are increasingly becoming threatened.

Living between 7 and 56 days, Dragonflies serve a vital role in the ecosystem by controlling the populations of mosquitoes, biting flies, and other flying pests.

So the next time you see a Dragonfly, you might want to say 'Thank-you' for all their hard work keeping you (relatively) bite-free this Summer.
