It's a rare thing for me to offer mini sessions but this series is an opportunity I couldn't pass up! It's a beautiful intersection of supporting and building community, creating lasting memories and celebrating summer's glorious bounty.

🌸ANNOUNCING: Lavender Farm Mini Sessions in support of the Scotsburn Community Food Forest!

The Scotsburn Community Food Forest is a permaculture demonstration site in the Scotsburn park. It is an educational perennial food system for our community with knowledge sharing; collaboration; regeneration; diversity of people, plants & pollinators. It is an incredible example of what is possible when the seeds of a dream are quite literally planted. 🌱💕

Please read the following details carefully and then *send me a message* to book your session!

💜 Dates: Tuesday, July 25th and Thursday, July 27th
💜 Times: 6:30pm, 6:50pm, 7:10pm, 7:30pm, 7:50pm
💜 Cost: $200 plus HST (total of $218.75)
💜 $75 of every session will be donated to the Scotsburn Community Food Forest
💜 Sessions are 15 minutes *Do not be late!*
💜 You will receive 10 edited images
💜 Payment is due upon booking
💜 We will go ahead even if it's sprinkling
💜 If there is a torrential downpour and shooting is not possible, the rain date will be arranged but likely at another location
💜 These minis are ideal for couples, families, just the kids, cousins, best friends, grandparents... but groups larger than 7 can not be accommodated.

Very happy to call the folks at Small Holdings Farm clients but more importantly, friends. 🥰 Photographing their growing season is one of the highlights of my summer- their flowers 🌷 and vegetables 🥕 bring me so much joy! ✨ You can visit their farm on Fridays or see them at the New Glasgow Farmers Market on Saturdays. This summer I took on a small personal project called where I photographed our family every day (or almost every day) from the May long weekend til the first day of school - roughly 100 days. My goal was to capture the gift of an ordinary day or as I like to call it, the everyday magic that's hidden in those in-between, often forgotten moments.

This was a hard summer for me. My brother passed away in July and working through the grief didn't leave me with a lot of energy for anything else. By the time September rolled around, if anyone had asked how my summer was, I likely would have said, "pretty terrible". But now, on this snowy January afternoon, as I look at these photos, I see the treasure of every "boring" moment of banging around the backyard, messy ice cream faces, endless hours on the swing set, catching frogs and snakes, visiting grandparents and cousins and even down time watching TV.

There are many things in life that are hard to wrap our heads around but this I know for sure - photographing our kids is one of my greatest joys. ✨ Here's to our 2022!

Dave and I bought this dragon at a street market in Bangkok in 2012. 🐉 Little did we know that 11 years later, our third baby would be reaching for it as it hung in a cozy nook of our home in Meadowville.

For fun, I went back to find the photo I knew I had taken years ago. Amazingly, we bought the dragon on January 25th, 2012 (exactly 11 years ago today) and I took this picture of Max yesterday.

The synchronicity of the universe never fails to astonish me. 🤩 I am so grateful for the curiosity and wonder the world provides and of course, a catalog of photos that keeps me paying attention. 🥰🙏

I'm working on my website today and just wrote a little blurb about documentary family photography and honestly got a little teary-eyed thinking about how grateful I am that I get to take this style of photos for my own family - like this image of Izzy. Forever and ever this photo will make me laugh and remember how when she is done, she is DONE and will starfish anywhere, even the middle of the road, until you pick her up and carry her home. 🥰 Read on for those of you curious to learn more about

Documentary photography is all about creating legacy. It's capturing the hundreds of moments that when strung together, make up the story of our lives. Images from a documentary session are time capsules - transporting you back in time to the feel of wind in your hair as you pumped your legs on the backyard swing, the smell of your favourite meal cooking when you came inside from playing on a cold winter day, the beloved family dog, the walls of your childhood bedroom.

Documentary photography is understanding the truth that joy does not live in perfection. Documentary sessions are visual proof that life may not have always been easy but it was truly bursting with small moments of beauty and magic. The exact moments you will want to show your children when they ask, "What was I like when I was little?" The moments you will yearn to re-visit and hold tight as you enter each new stage of family life. ❤️

When I have a million things on my to-do list (update website, set up new CRM, switch over gallery delivery provider, figure out how to reach new clients and on and on), I like to spend my time doing something entirely inconsequential like designing a new logo. 😂😍

This is my first-ever logo (in 14 years!) that I truly love with my whole heart. Cheerful? ✅ Happy? ✅ True to who I am as a person and photographer? ✅ Colour palette inspired by Wes Anderson? ✅ FUN?! ✅✅✅

And now it's time to roll up my sleeves and get to real work, like updating my very un-updated website. 🤓
