Solar Activity May 7-8 Eight years ago the Mother's day aurora was a significant milestone in many Aurora chasers Top 10. Now in May 2024 we have had an outburst that "could" Rival that great night. depending on the solar wind speed of the various multiple CME's heading out way. This means It could hit as early as tonight if its fast or Friday night if its average more importantly it could last for 24 hours or more depending on the next events still happening. The weather looks promising for Calgary and Alberta for the next 3 days so that is huge! May aurora is a perfect time with new moon cooperating and Ponds, Frogs, warmer weather creating a perfect storm hopefully.
