I had the absolute honour working with these beautiful women to raise awareness and I am so blessed that they trusted me to create these powerful images.

May 5th is Red Dress Day, also known as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People in Canada.

It’s a day to honour and remember Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people who have gone missing or been murdered, and to recognize the ongoing impacts this has on families, communities, and Indigenous peoples across the country. It’s not a celebration, it’s about awareness.

Why the red handprint?
The red handprint across the mouth represents the silence forced on so many Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people. It’s a reminder of the voices that were taken, and the stories that still need to be told.

No more stolen sisters.
