DAY 11 | Delighted Me

I love it when a plan comes together. I live in a tourist town which gets wildly busy in the summer, especially in August. This year, my younger daughter and I avoided the crowds and the heat and took a cruise (my favourite form of travel) to England, Ireland, Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Orkney Islands, landing us in Edinburgh, her old stomping grounds, as the final stop. It was a spectacular trip. I’d move to the Faroe Islands in a heartbeat if it weren’t so far from my kids!

DAY 10 | Sanctuary

I’ve created what is becoming (nope, not done yet!) a beautiful space for myself. In fact, my sanctuary has many different spots for quiet contemplation and other pursuits inside as well as around the property. Much of my time is spent with the dogs surrounded by books, hot tea, projects, and windows where I wave to my neighbours as they walk by. The energy is a calm, peaceful, quiet, all the things I want more of in my life.

DAY 09 | Best Day in 2025

I had so many wonderful experiences in 2025. Why a photo of art in my living room? Well, in early October, my eldest came to visit, and we unearthed a dozen or so of my most favourite art pieces and got them hung up. I hadn’t seen these pieces in half a decade. I don’t even have the words to express the exhale, the relief, the joy. My house became my home over that weekend.

DAY 07 | Wildness

My interpretation of wildness includes two elements: nature and danger. Where I live, nothing is more dangerous than the lake (Huron) in the dead of winter. The most dangerous part is the ice volcanoes that form along the shoreline during frigid (-25° to -40°C) weather when the winds bluster and snow comes down in horizontal strips. Beautiful when the sun shines, treacherous still.

DAY 08 | My Smile

I often have a lot to smile about. I try to focus on that truth rather than the many challenges we all face. In this case, I was on holiday at Canyon Ranch in Tucson for a few weeks with three out of four of my kids in February 2025. Sitting at the “Intentions” fountain on a rattan swing with magical. I enjoy taking the time to count my blessings and this was evidence of one occasion.

DAY 06 | I Let Go Of

Wow, this prompt opened up a number of thoughts. So many parts of my life were released this year, in such a revealing way. With those shed, I will be going forward in complete mental, physical, and spiritual alignment. One thing? I have let go of my podcast, “Crone Rising,” as the intense 20-24 hours for editing were overwhelming. Though I did enjoy the conversations! I’m working on keeping it alive in other ways.

I’m behind in the holiday decorating department this season — outdoors is done, and the trees are up inside, I just haven’t gotten to the ornament stage! Last year, I bought a collection of white birds to go on my pre-lit birch trees. They add to my “natural” hygge/hibernation vibe.
