The challenge of taking a photograph that not only moves the heart, but transforms the soul is akin to a quest. As a former ultra-marathon runner, avid hiker and cyclist, this motivates and inspires me time and time again, you never know what's on the other side of that mountain, or how the light will fall over the water. My roots began in the heart of Vancouver's east side, sparking a curiosity f
or the multifaceted dimensions of life, which in time propelled me across the mountains themselves, to the wide expanses of the Albertan prairies, where I settled for the second quarter of my life. Driven by a need to connect with nature daily, I found myself living on a Hobby farm in Westerose, Alberta. The sun rises and sunsets instilled a regular regime of packing my Cannon T5I in the car – along with my Australian Sheppard - and heading out to catch the first rays of light across the land. As a self-directed photographer, I have used my experience, trial, error and practice to gain the wisdom of what makes a great photograph. In a recent mid-life change I opted out of a high-pressure job for the freedom and space of more minimalist living. Together with my wife and last kid at home we have headed to B.C.’s interior to explore and experience living more closely aligned to our values. I am experimenting in Drone work with a DJImaveric2prozoom, and look forward to including arial footage and photos here, as well as offering my services to capture your property, event, or marketing campaigns
We can’t all travel to the far reaches of the wild, but we can hang up a moment in our room – moments that help us to remember our true nature – it is my hope that these photos shall take you there. Thanks Mark Kelly
