I eloped the second time I got married and it was the best decision I ever made when it came to my wedding. Everything was “us”. That’s why I love when couples trust me to create an experience similar for their own day. It takes so much pressure off, it’s low stress and you have almost unlimited freedom on the where, when and how you tie the knot. For K&R that meant flying to a different province they’ve never been to, trusting us to guide them on locations, and showing up just as they wanted to. Weddings and Motherhood are definitely tied as my two favourite things to photograph. C&J trusted me to tell the story of their day with both photo and video and what a day it was. No fluff, just stuff they really cared about. They scrapped the wedding party, the massive guest list, the receiving line, the speeches and the sit down dinner and opted for a garden party cocktail style event that was 100% about being present with their kids, their family and their besties. They prioritized the things that mattered the most - good casual food, a flexible schedule, the mood of the space, time alone through the day and being present so they could have fun.

Some of my favourite moments were:

- First look photobombed by goldfish crackers
- finger foods that were incredibly casual but incredibly tasty (fish and chip appies, stuffed mushrooms, skewers, mini burgers)
- East coast trail mini hike on a balmy summer day (so rare)
- the surprise Michael Jackson routine by their son (best choreographed wedding dance I’ve seen, and I’ve seen some!

V&M came out to the coast with me to share a little moment together on a random weekday. The sea was quiet, the birds were soaring around, it was lovely grounding ourselves in nature and the beauty of this place. I can’t wait to share in their special day next summer. It’s going to be magic ✨

I was excitedly anticipating N&M’s wedding day because I knew from getting to know them how solid of a couple they are, how resilient they are and how go-with-the-flow their day would be. It was perfection from start to finish 👌🏼

Fave memories:
- a mobile barber for the boys, super unique idea and I loved it (so did they!)
- downtown rooftop views
- kitty George chasing the dress down the stairs behind N (could have been bad but we caught him!)
- N&M walking behind a couple in their 80s, beautiful contrast
- sunshine, fog and drizzle all in one day
- N’s beautiful tribute to her late father who passed just this year - a chair dedicated to him filled with roses from the bridal party and a dedication table beside the head table with photos and flowers
- 97 year old grandpa being a ham in front of the camera
- our intermission where I stole the couple to go to their B&B for some beautiful private moments together (PG).
- the cheesecake - dear lord. Feed me cheesecake and we’re besties forever and ever.

The day started with meeting the guys and girls separately for getting ready, followed by an intimate first look overlooking downtown St. John’s. They hopped on a bus to Bannerman Park and we had some fun before heading out for some cliffside pictures with them and their wedding party (who had the most darling yellow and green dresses might I add).

When we got to the venue (Emera Innovation Exchange Conference and Event Services - Memorial University ) the fog had just started to roll into the inner harbour. This venue is stunning and I’m so incredibly sad we may lose it this year (it’s up for sale if you happen to live under a rock, or not in NL 😉). We shared a tasty meal by redoakcatering and some emotional speeches that had us laughing and crying before N&M took to the dance floor for their first dance.

Thanks for sharing this special day with me and letting me tag along as a third wheel. It was fabulous through and through. Congrats you two! 💍

Some weddings you can just feel the personality of your couples oozing out of your computer screen before you ever get to meet in person or chat in real time. I felt the heart and soul of B and T before I ever met them. Something so warm and welcoming and loving between them, respect, care, adoration. And that feeling seeped out of our chats and straight into my heart. I was so frigging jazzed to meet them on this oh so special day in downtown St. John’s, to celebrate their unique and special bond, to share in a moment that tied a neat little bow in their journey to date and to see first hand their excitement to be “me and you” forever.

My sincerest congratulations to you both on finding each other and sharing your love with the world, openly and proudly. 💜🧡🤍

✨ E&J ✨ got married on a hot summer day in August… oh no wait… they got married on a chilly rainy and foggy day in August because what else would Newfoundland serve up 😂 They didn’t care one bit. This whole group radiated joy and we forgot all about the weather. Dancing up a storm every second they got. From the warm jewel tones to their hype crew, it was perfection.
