This weekend I finished my 2025 wedding season! What a year it was; so many beautiful hikes, big love stories, and just overall great times. Reminiscing with this absolutely stunning elopement from the summer.

// some snaps from Ramea, in which the boat came in right before the fog. I hiked to and then slept (well, tried to) next to the lighthouse, which emitted a fog horn every 18 seconds starting at midnight. I picked bakeapples without taking off my backpack, and read every name engraved on the boardwalk (there are so many) and got a Pepsi at the convenience store, and read my book on the wharf, and talked to everyone. The owner of the restaurant made sure I had someone waiting for me at my next destination, and let me watch Days of Our Lives on their couch when it started raining a little too hard. The shopkeeper at the museum and shared my love for Drag Race. What a beautiful day.

Can we really get married outside in Newfoundland?
Yes! A hundred times yes!

This whole day happened without a traditional venue.

They took photos at Cape Spear, said their vows on a trail, popped champagne with their family, and had their first dance as the sun set behind them and it was absolutely perfect.

A few FAQs I always get about outdoor weddings:

Do we need a venue?
Nope! If you want to keep it simple, personal, and completely your own, you absolutely can just get married pretty much anywhere.

Do we need permits?
Sometimes. But I help with all of that so you’re not on your own.

Can we bring guests?
Of course! This couple had family and friends come with them, and since they got married at the trailhead there was no hiking required. They even had a champagne toast and a first dance.

Can we (or should we) still have a planner?
Yes! Andrea Hounsell Events helped bring this entire day together, and it was magic (highly recommend if you’re bringing a crowd and want to coordinate logistics).

What if the weather doesn’t cooperate?
We pivot... and we still get stunning photos. Promise.

But what do we… do?

Whenever couples ask me about posing for photos, I say that I help out making sure you look good, but that the real star of the show is just going to be how big you smile when you hang out with each other. So let me show you B+A because these two have big ol heart eyes and their love was the real MVP, minimal posing required.

We ended the 2024 season in style with a truly perfect day celebrating the most genuine love story. They threw out the rule book and created a day that made them happy - I love being part of days like this!!
