Every now and again Photographers should take the time to do a fun creative shoot just for themselves. While it is rewarding to work with so many talented Athletes, doing a no pressure photo shoot and playing around with different techniques can help keep the passion of photography alive as well as increasing ones skill and knowledge level. I said this year with good intentions that I would try to do at least one per month, well I have done two and it is mid-June LoL.
This fun shoot was a bit of a serendipity moment. Anna, who is a Dancer reached out asking if I would do a dance inspired photoshoot in her graduation dress, which I of course said YES! I asked her to send me a photo of her dress so I would know what we were working with, that same day I was picking up what I thought was a cool prop found on Facebook marketplace, a vintage bright orange rotary dial telephone. When I got home from picking up my new find, I noticed Anna had sent me a photo of her dress, beautiful and bright orange, DAMN!!! Okay, this is not just a coincidence, we have to do something with her dress and this phone! I asked Anna if she was up for a part 2 photo shoot where we would do an in-studio all orange coloured theme, I am very happy she agreed.
I have never done a themed photoshoot using just one colour, I had no idea how this was going to look or turn out. On top of the phone, I picked up an orange backdrop, found a cool orange chair, picked up some orange headphones, we even threw in some actual oranges, orange crush and orange Gatorade. Whatever we had or could find, it was an orange explosion!!!
I was a little nervous going in, but I think we came out with a few really nice shots, these are just a couple previews. Anna absolutely NAILED it during our session. Thank-You Anna for being so much fun and accommodating to try this out.
