A morning jaunt to Cape Race(May 18, 2025)

Here's a small set of images from a little morning hike I took back on the Victoria Day long weekend. It was a stunning morning for it, and I finally captured some angles I've been wanting for a while.

I’ve been looking to change things up a bit and a recent trip to Newfoundland’s West Coast was the perfect opportunity. So I came up with 'Operation: Take Pics, Have Fun'. No tripod and no raw files. Just one camera(drone excluded lol), one lens and a bunch of jpegs(with my own Fujifilm recipe).

This is Part Two - Woody Point. Enjoy.

'Light and Dark'

I've been fortunate enough to witness many gorgeous sunsets. They come in all shapes and sizes. This one, although dark and sinister, was an early bloomer. The sun was still fairly high in the sky but it was the dark clouds that did the heavy lifting creating this stunning light bleed. Spectacular!

'You Never Know When'

I woke up to the news this morning that fire has destroyed some of the stages at Quidi Vidi. I'm in shock.
As a landscape photographer you develop relationships with subjects. They become acquaintances almost. Structures can be rebuilt, but it's that intangible value that cannot be replaced. I feel like a part of our heritage died in that fire.
I captured this image back in May. Little did I know it would be my last time with these beauties.
A very, very sad day.

'Stroll Thru the Battery'

I've kinda been waiting for rainy day to share this set but we've had so much sun that I almost forgot about it!
This is a set I captured back in May on a cold, rainy afternoon in the Battery. This place looks great day or night, rain or shine.
It's quite a remarkable little walk and an excellent vantage point to check out any visiting ships.
Of course, you will find plenty of colourful structures and houses clinging to the cliff face.
