Summer in Newfoundland and Labrador doesn't follow the calendar; it begins when the lupins do. These lovely wildflowers, not native to NL, pepper the sides of highways and roads. If you're lucky, you stumble upon a precious little patch of them, perfect for photos.

I have a load of photos to catch up on sharing, but first, I have to post some lupin sessions because they're finally out and in full force and looking lovely! They're a little late this year, I think because of the cold Sprin-ter we had?

You may have noticed that I don't usually offer high school grad photography. Not for any particular reason, other than I'm a busy person with a more than full time day job. They are such special occasions, and June tends to be such a busy month for my own kids, that it's just not something I've ever done much of!

So you may be asking, well what are you doing, posting a grad?! But you see, this is a very special graduation session. This graduate Max, was 8 years old pretty much yesterday, and for a couple years now, his mom, my friend, has been casually mentioning that she'd like me to take his grad photos (specifically with my 70-200mm 2.8 lens). In the back of my mind, he was still 8, so yeah, no problem, we'll do that some day!

Then BAM, since time is nothing, it turns out that Max graduated high school this year. So obviously, I wanted to do something epic, if we could swing it.

You may recognize Max's gorgeous mom as being well loved, incredible (former) newborn photographer Christy Kirkland. Well Christy and I are pals from back then, and bonded over photography, having trained with one of the same photographers. We've talked each other through from frustrating times, some sad times, and some exciting times - mostly online, because we both love a ball of yarn and a couch LOL. She also photographed 2 out of 3 of my own kiddos' newborn photos (which were epic).

So no pressure, right? LOL. None at all for the lady who doesn't really photograph grads! 😳

Anyways, I broke out my 70-200 for the occasion, as requested, and off we went to first the Colonial Building, and then out by Quidi Vidi. You couldn't wipe the smile off Christy's face. I was just so happy to watch her be so incredibly happy. I've never seen her smile so much in all the time I've known her - combined! LOL.

All that to say, Congratulations Max! I know I just chatted on about your mom but I wish you all the best. This session was as much for you, as it was to celebrate your mom and your family supporting you to this point - that's why there are so many photos of your mom too! 🤣 ❤ (Y'all know my motto, is that moms need to be in ALL the photos!)

Christy: Thanks friend, for trusting me with this massive milestone. I hope I did you proud! Christy Diane

I managed to catch one of the remaining icebergs this morning in King's Point, NL. I heard reports that yesterday it was rocking and that it might not stick around much longer, but I was happy to see that if was still there when I arrived.

King's Point is a convenient, short drive off the TCH, and the iceberg is visible from the dock, although I had been planning to take a boat tour if weather permitted (it didn't - it was pouring rain and super grey this morning!).

What a majestic sight though. I felt very lucky to have the chance to photograph it! If you're so inclined, please give it a share/like! Thanks!

I started the long driving trek across the island yesterday and decided to stop off in Elliston for a visit to the Elliston puffin site, and it did NOT disappoint!

Swipe through these photos to see why these little birds are my favourite! I've always wanted to photograph them but life is always so busy. I sat for a couple hours watching them in the afternoon and taking some photos and then went back around sunset.

Did you know that puffins mate for life? There were many pairs of puffins around the site, who seemed to be cleaning out their little burrows, or bringing grass and weeds into them. I even saw one dive headfirst into the burrow, feet up in the air which was so cute and funny.

I also took a ton of photos and video, and I'll post more when I have a few moments. But for now, here's a taste of my puffin visit to Elliston, Newfoundland and Labrador! If you'd like to see more, please consider giving my page a like!

And now to drive the rest of the way across the island today! I hope these photos make you smile as much as they did for me!

🦊 I had a little visitor fox while out in the quidi vidi area. Such a cool looking fox - and no, I wasn't very close to him, this was shot on a 70-200 2.8 mm Canon RF lens, so I gave him his space. 🦊

Does anyone know what this colour of fox is called? (Or is his just called a black fox? 🤣

✨It’s the most wonderful time of the year!✨ McDonald Dollar Drink Days is back, and you know what that means? $1 large Diet Coke (the best possible form of Diet Coke).

In honour of the best thing ever, I’ve written out an expression of my love for you, dollar drink days. Words could never be enough though.

To the McDonald’s Dollar Drink Days menu:

You’re not just a promotion. You’re a lifestyle. A summer romance. A beacon of hope glowing through a windshield at 12:17 p.m., and let’s be real, often 8:15 a.m. (but you never judge me!).

When the world said inflation, you said “large icy Diet Coke for a dollar.” When I was thirsty, you were there. When I needed a little cup of joy, you never asked questions.

Some people write love letters to their soulmates. I’m writing mine to Dollar Drink Days.

Forever in yours,
The driver circling back through the drive-thru for “just one more”, although the app limits me to two a day, my love can never be limited🍟🥤✨

To be very clear, this is not an ad, it is only slightly joking, and in good fun.
