This is the beautiful Black and White Warbler, they creep up and down tree trunks and branches looking for their next meal. I was excited to get pictures of both Male and Female.

The female Black-and-white Warbler selects a well-hidden nesting location at the base of a tree, rock, stump, or fallen log, or under a bush or shrub. Nests are usually built on the ground but occasionally are placed in a cavity atop a tree stump, in a rock crevice, or on a mossy bank up to six feet high.

This Blackburnian Warbler also feeds high in the forest canopy, but the other morning while at our Pinery campsite, I was in the right place to get a great view.

Backyard Tips
If your backyard has plenty of trees, you might attract Blackburnian Warblers on migration or in summer. They may remain hard to find in the tree canopy, but they may come down into view if you offer a bird bath or water dripper. See more ideas for creating water features in your yard. Warblers don’t come to seed feeders, although they may stop by if you offer mealworms.

I found this beautiful Northern Parula when we spent 4 days at the Pinery last week. Not always so close, as they usually feed in the upper canopy of the forest. Lucky for me breakfast was better down low lol

"Northern Parulas do not visit feeders, but you can provide habitat for them in your yard by landscaping with native trees and shrubs that will grow where you live. Creating a bird-friendly backyard for Northern Parulas, even if they don't breed in your area, may help them out during migration."

I am hoping there is a female around for the handsome Rose Breasted Grosbeak would love them to stay for the summer.

"The male Rose-breasted Grosbeak takes a turn incubating the eggs for several hours during the day, while the female incubates the rest of the day and all night long. Both sexes sing quietly to each other when they exchange places. The male sometimes sings his normal song at full volume from inside the nest."

So happy to see these beautiful pair of Baltimore Orioles come back this year.

"Baltimore Orioles seek out ripe fruit. Cut oranges in half and hang them from trees to invite orioles into your yard. Special oriole feeders filled with sugar water supplement the flower nectar that Baltimore Orioles gather. You can even put out small amounts of jelly to attract these nectar-eaters (just don't put out so much that it risks soiling their feathers). Planting bright fruits and nectar-bearing flowers, such as raspberries, crab apples, and trumpet vines, can attract Baltimore Orioles year after year."

This sweet fellow is a Chipping Sparrow, it is one of the smallest of the sparrow family.
"Chipping Sparrows will eat many kinds of birdseed, particularly black oil sunflower seeds from feeders, but also seed mixes scattered on the ground. Shrubs or small trees in your yard may entice Chipping Sparrows to build a nest."

Migration is in full swing. I have had the pleasure of watching a couple of Palm Warblers feeding around the property. So nice to get the camera out again.

"The Palm Warbler is a small songbird known for its distinctive tail-bobbing behavior. It has a fuller belly compared to other warblers and can be identified by its yellow underparts, reddish-brown cap, and yellow eyebrow stripe. These birds are often found in marshes and wet areas, foraging on the ground rather than in trees. They are migratory, nesting in northern boreal forests and traveling to warmer southern regions during the winter".

What a Beautiful day for a walk with Dan and so fortunate to find this amazing Barred Owl sleeping not to high in the tree. He/She woke for a few minutes and the turned his head and went back to sleep. It has been so long since I have been out with the camera, what a joy it was to see a lifer for me.

This beauty is a Cape May Warbler, while at the Pinery in May. They breed in forests of spruce and balsam fir, especially in areas where spruce budworms are abundant. Although red, black, and white spruce habitats are all acceptable, these warblers nest only in relatively mature forests, about 25–75 years old (trees usually over 35 feet tall).

This is the Prairie Warbler also found at the Pinery. It is a rare bird found in this area. Not a bird of open prairies, this warbler nests mainly in young second growth scrub and densely overgrown fields in eastern North America.
