It is so great when I have past clients that have moved away make the trip back to town specifically to use my services. Mary made the trip from Petrolia last week and it was both an honour and a great catch up during our lifestyle image session around the core of her hometown. So many changes in both of our lives since we last were together. One of them being she is now an author of a heart searching debut memoir, capturing the often-silent struggles of marriage, motherhood, family, and faith called Being Mary. If you haven't read it, search it out wherever you buy your books. ✌❤

Always a blast with the crew!! Another classic update in the books. ✌❤

As a follow up to my anniversary post the other day and on the request of Livvy Bonnamie , I am sharing a select number of photos of my hours spent within Pripyat and the exclusion zone of Chernobyl. Before reactor #4 was encased in it's sarcophagus and long before the tragic events and senseless war of the last 4 years in the beautiful country of Ukraine. It was 40 years ago this April 26th the meltdown happened and 20 years ago, April 25th, that I visited the site. I was on my own, escorted there by 2 chain smoking men in a rusted out Lada that I had paid $150 to get me in. They left me in the city for over an hour to wander alone, only saying to "stay away from the moss". The only other people I crossed during that time, a BBC news crew doing a piece on it's anniversary. It was haunting, it was revelatory, it was eye opening, it was a day I will never forget. The ghosts of the largest industrial disaster of our time.

To all the Mothers out there, thank you!

I have chosen this picture I took in an underpass in Tbilisi Georgia for a reason on this day. An artists rendition of Kartlis Deda, the Mother of Georgia. A symbol of the endearing strength of a woman. A nurturer, a strong defender, a free spirit and a wise teacher. Someone who guides with love and defiant independent strength,. Her statue towering over the city itself in daily remembrance.

To be a mother, a step-mother or an adoptive mother is all of these things and more. Today we celebrate you and all that you do.

Ok, I need your opinion and your help. Part of the renovations at my new storefront exposed the original plaster on the large 40’ x 12’ wall. There has been wainscoting adding on the bottom 4’ tastefully using the aged tongue and groove original wood ceiling, which we hope to leave in original condition. I love the old torn pieces of wallpaper and would like to retain its aged and somewhat beaten aesthetic. Should I leave it as is? If so, should I seal somehow? Is line washing a good option? If so, how do I incorporate the wallpaper? I would love opinions, experienced or not. Thank you so so much!!✌️♥️

What a Long Strange Trip it's Been" Jerry Garcia 1970
*
It was May 7th, 2006 when I became a fully registered business and decided to become a full time photographer, not just a "moonlighter" like I had been since 2003. I had just returned from a journey from Moscow to Sofia, Bulgaria, part of my first coordinated international project that took me to the contaminated soils near the Belarusian border and had me wandering around vacant Pripyat documenting the Chernobyl disaster 20 years on.
*
I had only started shooting digital the year before, transitioning from my medium format Pentax to a Canon Rebel. The trip was a true revelation and a life changer. I decided I had to take the leap and go into business with both feet firmly planted. The gamble paid off. The next year, I opened my first storefront and signed onto some significant contracts that cemented I was going in the right direction. Over the next 20 years, it was and has been truly a rollercoaster ride. One with loads of fun (see picture), loads of memories, loads of stories, loads of stress, and loads of ups and downs. 2 decades that taught me resilience and determination.
*
20 years that has shown me that every action truly has a reaction, that professionalism and customer service is truly alive and well. That being a steadfast believer in your own uniqueness and vision is not a path, but a lifestyle and being a supporter of your community and all it's possibilities in an age of distraction is something to strive to.
*
Thank you for coming along for the ride!! 2026 is going to be Epic! See you at 95 Queen in June Get ready, it's time to get the band together again!! 🤣✌❤
