Chase the Light, Not the Crowd: My Landscape Advice

The best advice I can give you is simple: photograph what moves you. If a scene stirs something in your chest, if it forces you to sit in quiet awe, or if it makes you drop your jaw and say wow—that is your cue. Capture it.
​Stop over-planning the art right out of your day. Some of my favorite images come from simply driving, exploring, and letting the shifting morning or evening light reveal the story.
​When we only chase famous landmarks, we chase someone else’s vision. If your heart isn't in the frame, the final photo will always feel cold, and your creative fire will eventually burn out.
​If you do visit a legendary location, step away from the crowd. Don't stand tripod-to-tripod with a hundred people taking the same photo that’s been printed for a decade. Take a risk. Find a unique angle, wait for a different light, and bring home an image that holds a piece of your own soul—not just a postcard.
