Brandi Vanderwolf Photography

Brandi Vanderwolf Photography Photographer I am the face behind the camera, the one who tries not to be seen by making YOU be seen. The real you. The you when you’re with your family.

The you when you’re with your favorite person(or animal) in the world. The you who works tirelessly for you, and for others. The you who uses their time every day for the sake of being alive. I’m the one who captures those moments and turns it into something you can cherish, something you can look back on for a precious memory. Because life is short, and time is precious. I’m someone who loves cre

ativity, and doing new things, but also takes pride in traditions. I’m a country girl at heart, born and raised on the farm. I’m someone who loves the outdoors and the mountains, a good road trip and a long hike. I love family and friends, and do everything I can so I don’t miss those moments. And I’d love to help YOU not miss those moments either, because you can’t get them back

When you have almost the entire world at your fingertips to pick from, it may be difficult to narrow down where you want to say I do. However, while it may feel overwhelming, choosing a special location may be one of the best things you can do for your perfect elopement day. Some elopement photographers are also great at helping you plan your entire day, including location. If you are having a difficult time deciding, reach out to your favorite photographers for help.

- Choose somewhere meaningful. Even if you have never been there before, choose somewhere that matches your vibe, and what you both enjoy when being somewhere.

- Check that it is legal for you to get married at that location. Do you need permits, extra paperwork? Each country, and states or provinces have their own rules for who can and can’t get married.

- Pick a location that is suitable during the date you would like to get married. Not all locations are accessible, let alone enjoyable, in every season.

- Lastly, if you are inviting any guests, choose a location that is accessible for all members attending.

Were you just proposed to, or did you both just decide to get married?

It can be overwhelming trying to decide where to start!
Start with these four questions:
- When will you get married? This can be a specific date or even a season. Start somewhere and narrow it down when you check off everything else.

- What is your budget?

- Where do you imagine eloping to? Somewhere local or far away? Somewhere you know well or somewhere you’ve never been?

- Who, if anyone, will you be inviting?

What's something you should do more of on your wedding day?

In my humble opinion,

Relaxing!

It might sound a little counterintuitive - your day should be fun and exciting! But all too often I see couples just tired at the end of the day. When you plan your day, make sure you plan some you time in there just to relax, enjoy a coffee or your favorite drink together, sit in a hot tub, have a nap… While the day should be fun and exciting, you don’t want to burn out, and those quiet times are special too!

Where should I get married in Jasper?

One of the biggest decisions you are going to have to make for your wedding (big or small) is where you actually want to get married. You might decide you want to get married in Jasper National Park, but the park itself is actually huge! 11,228 km² to be exact!
While a lot of it is not accessible to the average person, you are legally allowed to get married anywhere in the park with a few rules: basically don't impede on nature or others, and keep it small if you are not at a venue.
But if you're not looking for a random location, there are a few popular locations:
- Pyramid Lake and Athabasca Day Use area are the two locations you can reserve in advance for your ceremony
- Fairmont Park Lodge, Maligne Lake Chalet, and Pyramid Lake Lodge are some of your more popular venues in the park.
If you are not set on being in the park, there are also lots of options in Hinton or near Nordegg as well!
Would you get married with a view like this? Wedding at Maligne Lake Chalet.

Why you should 100% consider a helicopter elopement:

1. You can't give me many reasons why you wouldn't want to ride in a helicopter
2. Think about how much quicker you can get to those epic views in a helicopter versus hiking
3. How many of your friends have ridden in a helicopter?
4. IT'S A FREAKING HELICOPTER

So, I challenge you, give me a reason you wouldn't consider a helicopter elopement. Leave it below in the comments! Most ludicrous answer wins bragging rights😂

I love proposal shoots! I won't lie I always get super nervous before each one, because you just never know exactly what is going to happen, and especially when you have to hide like I did for this one, you just hope you don't ruin the surprise!

Looking for a place to get engaged? Highly recommend checking out Refuge Bay for all your perfect proposal needs!

Congrats again to Ryan and Meghan, and thank you sooooo much for the glowing review♥

"I was first put in touch with Brandi when trying to plan my proposal to my long term girlfriend. I was not really sure about how exactly to organize the photos without giving away the surprise to my now fiancé but Brandi was there with answers to all the questions I didn’t know I had. She worked with me to capture the moment and the photos came out great, we were very impressed all around. Thanks for everything Brandi!!"

"Can we reschedule if it's going to rain?"

Long and short.... No.

We prepare for all types of weather. I always highly recommend having a backup plan in case the weather is terrible. But if it's just going to rain.... Your photos may come out so much better than you wished for! Whether its rainbows or just pretty rain, I always recommend going ahead with the original plans.
However, if the weather is dangerous (flooding, severe thunderstorms, etc) we will look at rescheduling as everyone's safety is paramount.

Old wives tales also say that it's good luck if it rains on your wedding day!

"Would it be weird to not wear white for my wedding?"

Hell no!
Your wedding can include or not include whatever you want it to. Don't even want to wear a dress or suit? I don't care if you wear your PJ's, as long as you are happy.

Alternative clothing options that are just as cool as a white dress and suit at a wedding:
- Red Dress, black dress, whatever other color
- Pant Suits
- Traditional wedding attire based on your heritage
- hiking clothes

Pick whatever you feel comfortable and happy in, allow your partner to do the same, and just go get married!

Would you consider wearing something other than the "traditional" colors?

Wondering if a cruise to Spirit Island is worth it?

If you've never been to Jasper National Park, or even if you have and are doing research for what there is to see and do, Maligne Lake will undoubtedly come up as an option. You can either stick by the shore at the main parking lot, or take some form of boat down the length of the lake to Spirit Island.

Pros: Taking a cruise to Spirit Island is undoubtedly beautiful. The only other way to the island if you want to see it is by a multi day paddle. So it's a great way to see a bucket list location.
Cons: Your time viewing the island is limited, and your boat and possibly others will be full with other people looking to see the same spot. There isn't a lot of space, and only one walking loop. So if you are looking for somewhere more secluded, there are many other beautiful locations at Maligne Lake that you can walk to.
