Something little kids has taught me over my solar observations is they listen way better than most adults 😅 Before we look thru a dedicated solar telescope I always make sure I tell people don't look directly at the sun after. You won't be able to see the prominence shooting off the sides or the filament stretching across the sun with your naked eye, ontop of being dangerous.

There is a huge prominence on the sun right now! I am currently borrowing a solar telescope from RASC-Thunder Bay Centre and have used it every chance I get. One of the benefits of being a member. RASC meetings should be starting up again next month. Can't wait to hear about other people's astronomical observations over the summer.

NGC 2905 Galaxy

This galaxy is an isolated barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Leo. Often over looked do to other more well know galaxies in the constellation such as the leo triplet. This is only 2 hrs of data but you can make out the dust lanes of the spiral arms fairly well.

With forest fires and kids being out of school I haven't had a lot of time to sit down and process the data I have collected. But they are only small for so long so the stars can be patient for their photoshoot.

Sun Spot AR 4489 visible with a Samsung phone, through the forest fire smoke!

Never look at the sun without the proper protection. With that being said... I felt confident I wouldn't damage my phone with how much smoke is in the air.
