Spent some time with Katelyn creator of North Country Antlers for a branding session and I’m still obsessed with everything she creates.

She’s recently gotten into silversmithing and somehow keeps finding new ways to grow her creativity. From her incredible antler jewelry to beadwork, rope décor, and so many unique handmade pieces, there’s so much heart and talent behind her work.
She’s always creating, always learning, and it’s been so cool watching her dream grow into something even bigger.

Connie from Søle Nordic Wellness Spa
is a reminder that building something with heart takes courage, intuition, and resilience.

Søle was born from both her heritage and her lived experience. With deep Norwegian, Swedish, and Finnish roots, Connie grew up understanding wellness not as a luxury, but as ritual: hot and cold, rest and resilience, community and care.

After years in banking and navigating her own seasons of burnout, stress, and healing, she felt called to create something different a space that supports the nervous system, restores balance, and invites people to slow down in a meaningful way.

Being a woman business owner, she says, means holding strength and softness at the same time. It means trusting your intuition, creating space for others to heal, and leading with compassion, especially when it’s hard.

Søle is more than a spa it’s a reflection of what’s possible when women honour their roots, their resilience, and their right to create businesses that truly serve.

✨ Day Two of celebrating incredible women in business.

Bonnie - Barrhead Custom Meats

Bonnie started here as a cleaner and 34 years later, she’s the owner. It wasn’t something she planned it simply fell into her lap. But through dedication and heart, she stepped into the role and made it her own.

She loves meeting people, serving the community, and building strong relationships. While working in a male-dominated field hasn’t always been easy, especially when facing a lack of respect, she leads with compassion.

She’s most proud of how much has been accomplished since taking over and continues to look for ways to grow (even if it never feels fast enough).

Her downtown retail store and the community around her keep her motivated every day.

Outside of work, Bonnie loves raising animals and spending time in her garden a true reflection of her nurturing spirit.

✨ International Women’s Day looks a little different over here.

Instead of celebrating just one day, I’m celebrating three, highlighting three incredible women I’ve had the honour of photographing this past year. Women who are building, leading, and creating legacies in their own beautiful ways.

First up is Tracy from Prairie Preserves.

Tracy’s business started in her own kitchen, canning food so she knew exactly what her kids were eating. What began as passion quickly turned into something more when she started making too much… and began selling.

Her work is rooted in family, tradition, and the land. She harvests, preserves, and passes those skills down to her daughters. One of her greatest joys has been watching her girls step up alongside her from picking what the land has to offer to helping with recipes and deliveries.

What she’s most proud of isn’t just the business, it’s how it’s brought her closer to her daughters and inspired their independence.

If she could give advice to another woman?
Take the leap. Just do it.

What keeps her going is building a legacy for her girls. And every year, just like her mother before her, Tracy grows a big garden keeping tradition alive in more ways than one.
