Your brand photos don’t have to be completely original, poses and outfits that no one has ever done before, to be you. They just need to be true.

If a laptop and coffee mug feels right for you, do it. If you want to take photos standing in a lake (me!), do it. Don’t be different just for differents sake.

That’s why I do so much discovery work with you before our session, so we can create personal brand photos that are deeply artistic AND totally true to you. You don’t want to have to keep up with your brand photos. 😘

Let’s stop making ‘authenticity’ out to be just one thing.

I show up in my business on days where I’ve scripted and planned reels, used my beautiful brand photos where my outfit and hair are on point, and now without makeup or a shower on my family’s camping trip. None of those layers of me are inauthentic or fake to my business.

They’re all layers of the real me and how I show up in my business. Real world personal branding. 😜

And you can pick the layers you show! So don’t stress about being inauthentic and just pick the part of you you want to show today.

Every September I get frantic emails…

‘Do you have time for a session on Thursday? I‘m launching a new offer/book/membership/service next week and I need photos’

But the best photos do WAY more than make you look pretty. They speak directly to your dream customers and help them feel that you’re for them before, even before they read a thing. And photos like that take time.

For most of my clients, I encourage them to book at least 4 weeks in advance. That gives both of us time to plan for photos that go way beyond headshots. Trust me, future you will thank you.

You know the minute you start writing a book on that lesson you learned you’re gonna start learning it all over again. 😅

Perfectionism has been the air that I breathe for so long that it’s easy to not notice it slipping in again. And that was definitely happening with my social media my marketing. I was just getting quiet, thinking too much about it instead of just taking the messy action.

For me, and maybe for you too, that stems from a lot of self doubt. But the only way to trust myself is to start doing things, to get that data that “Yep I know what I’m doing.”

Brand photos are a beautiful kind of time travel.

Most people wait until they’ve lost the weight, hit the follower count, or grown the revenue. I think it works the other way around. The photos are part of how you get there.

We figure out who you’re becoming. Then I photograph her now. Not a stranger you’ll grow into. The version of you who already lives in your head when you’re brave.

Your last brand photos weren’t quite right…

You can’t put your finger on exactly why but they weren’t YOU. Maybe the posing was too stiff and expected, the lighting and backdrop generic, or the photographer didn’t truly understand your brand and goals.

This is where 99.9999% of my clients are at when they come to me for brand photos. They want images to not just look good but to FEEL like them too. They’re ready to show the true version of themselves and their businesses that they’re worked so hard to build.

They want to choose what their professional looks like. ✨

Each time I pivoted to a new photography niche, I felt embarrassed…

I thought I couldn’t show any of my previous work because if I had changed my mind, my focus, people would think I couldn’t deliver the best photos for them.

I ESPECIALLY did this once I finally moved full time into brand photography. I had been creating images for business owners my entire career it just usually mirrored the niche I was currently in. I photographed horse training stables, editorials for fashion boutiques and wedding florists, documented a surfboard shaper and his family, and children’s boutiques.

Brands were actually a major through line in all my work but I didn’t see it at the time.

So now instead of being embarrassed, I know that I can translate any business owners vision so well because of all the photographic lives I’ve led. Because the story of the person in front of my camera has always been my focus.
