Well… it’s been an exciting & edgy last few days living here in Squamish. Getting off work Monday, I noticed a small but concerning forest fire on the bluff as I drove home. I didn’t expect it to turn into what it did. Watching it right from my backyard, 4 days now of crew attacking a blaze that was threatening the homes next to it, and potentially more. Helis, water bombers, firefighters, news crews, the whole neighborhood out to watch in awe. Currently totalling just over 50 hectares, but luckily moving away from the town.
Huge shout out to the emergency responders, ground crew and pilots tackling this emergency with immense strategy, skill and bravery. This definitely could have been a very different turn out without these incredible efforts.
Rain in the forecast but still yet to see it! Let’s pray it comes. 🙏🏻
