Double-crested Cormorant πŸ₯°
I've always wanted to photograph this bird and capture its emerald-colored eyes. After few multiple failed attempts over few years, I finally was given an opportunity and got few extra bonus too! I got it at eye-level and in-flight as well.

Ruby-throated Hummingbird (male) 😍
I admire and impressed with hummingbird species. For instance this type of hummingbird is only 2.8-3.5 inches with wingspan of 3-4.3 inches, yes tiny but yet they travel one way over 4,000 kilometers during migration. They can fly from Canada to Mexico, Costa Rica or Panama. They sometime cross the Gulf of Mexico to reach their destination. The perils they encounter during migration from weather to predators such as praying mantis, spider and its web, birds of prey to name a few. This is one of the reason why I am always glad to see them in our backyard/garden year after year.
In addition, another impressive characteristic of this species is they have good memory. They remember the food sources they found during migration and tend to return to those spots, that's over 4K kilometers route. The Riverwood Conservancy

Eastern Screech Owl Family πŸ¦‰πŸ₯°
The images of two adult owls are actually two different individuals as you may notice their dark markings on the neck area. It's the parents of the owlet shown image.

Ruby-throated Hummingbird (male)
Spring and Summer brings colors on the environment and most of all Hummingbirds are back. πŸ₯°
I visited one of my Hummingbirds spots this morning and I was delighted to this Ruby-throated Hummingbird. I saw another male foraged in this male territory and this Hummer chased it away.
It's nice to photographed hummingbirds with motion showing on its wings and its beautiful gorget at The Riverwood Conservancy.

Snapping Turtle
It's always interesting to see this pre-historic looking species that resembles Stegosaurus with their spiked tail and powerful jaw.
Here's few interesting facts about this species:
* This turtle can breath through its blood vessel during winter hibernation under frozen lakes. Scientist calls it "Cloacal Respiration" which basically means breath through their bum.
* Unlike other turtles, their shell is smaller than their body. They rely on fierce bite to as defense than retracting its head and limbs into its shell when outside the water.

Peregrine Falcon with Blue Jay Prey
It was astonishing watching a pair of falcons sn**ch their prey in flight! They were both perched on their observation spots then would suddenly fly high speed to unsuspecting prey that unfortunately flew in their hunting zone. During my stay, the pair caught a pigeon, starling and three blue jays. They have hungry chicks to feed.
These images were heavily cropped (images mostly shot at 600mm then cropped) for better viewing and composition.

Indigo Bunting 😍
My fellow wildlife photographers can relate to this story. We are at the mercy of our photography subject (wildlife) but when it decides to perch/stay with a background four feet or farther the lens bokeh is just gorgeous.
This Indigo Bunting gave me a wonderful opportunity to photographed him and it has a good choice of not only background but facing the light source (sun).

Red-headed Woodpecker 😍
I haven't been out shooting for sometime and I decided to go out on my day-off even though the weather forecast is not promising and I'm glad I did!
This Woodpecker is a species I don't see often and last one I saw was years ago. The weather turned-out sunny and warm too!
