Raise your hand if you’ve been on a call with me and you’ve asked “do we really need getting ready photos?”
Ok put your hand down, this is a Wendy’s.
I get a lot of questions about what couples should or shouldn’t have as part of their wedding day coverage. My answer is always “what do I know? I’m just a worm.” But also, it’s your day. In 25 years, when you look back at these images, are you going to notice gaps we didn’t get coverage of? Maybe, maybe not. Most likely, you’ll be looking back to relive that day, to share with loved ones, and to maybe get inspiration for a throw back halloween costume.
My take is, I am responsible for telling the story of your day, which includes your getting ready moments. Getting into your wedding dress with your mom fumbling through tears to get buttons done up. Your sister fluffing the veil of her first best friend (and rival) in your once-shared childhood bedroom. The quiet, the chaos, the deep breaths. Will you remember these moments without them being captured? Maybe. Depends on how much Tylenol we all ingest.
TLDR; getting ready photos aren’t a must-have, but they definitely are a meaningful-to-have.
