There’s a stretch before the ceremony where it’s just the bride and whoever’s lucky enough to be in the room with her.

Nobody’s looking yet.

She’s not “on” yet.

Honestly those are some of my favourite minutes of the whole day to photograph. Quiet, a little nervous, completely herself.

The dress did a lot of the talking here. Structured satin, the low back, a veil that went on forever.

But mostly i just kept coming back to how still everything felt before the day actually started.

Some places don’t need styling. They just need someone paying attention.

The toronto hunt has sat on the scarborough bluffs since 1843 — equestrian portraits down every hall, lake ontario in every window. we photographed the morning as if stepping into another world, another time. The room still holding its breath.

A wedding here never has to ask to be more than it already is.
