Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph the latest BMQ graduates at Fort York Armoury for . It was a reminder that behind every uniform is a person who chose challenge over comfort.

Basic Military Qualification isn’t just about drills and inspections. It asks recruits to operate under pressure, work as a team, stay disciplined when tired, and push through moments where quitting would feel easier. It’s a test of mindset as much as fitness.

Watching that transformation, from civilians arriving on day one to graduates standing with confidence at the end, was powerful to witness.

Congratulations to this newest group for taking an important step in service, growth, and leadership. The journey starts here.

Two lights
A $10 paper blind.

Just playing with light, shadows, and texture.
A good reminder that you don’t always need fancy gear to create something interesting. Creativity often comes from limitation, not excess.

Client work sharpens ex*****on.
Creative shoots sharpen vision.

When you’re working commercially, there are guardrails, i.e. brand guidelines, timelines, deliverables, objectives. And that’s not a bad thing. It builds discipline.

But if you never step outside that structure, something slowly fades.

Creative shoots aren’t indulgent. They’re calibration.
They remind you what excites you.
They let you test lighting you wouldn’t normally test.
They let you build mood without permission.
They let you experiment without consequence.

And here’s the part people don’t talk about:
Creative shoots often become the bridge to future commercial work.
They help you:
• Create new visual language
• Attract collaborators who think differently
• Expand your creative circle
• Signal to brands what you’re capable of beyond the brief

Some of the strongest client conversations start with:
“We saw that personal project you did…”

Creative work isn’t separate from business.
It’s the research lab for it.

December holds a lot of weight in Sikh history.
It’s a month of Shaheedi Dihara, a time that reminds us of sacrifice, selflessness, and Chardi Kala (High Spirits).

It’s not a month of mourning, but a month of pride.

The sacrifices made by the Sahibzaade and countless Sikhs weren’t rooted in sadness or defeat, but in strength, clarity, and standing firm for what’s right, no matter the cost.

Sharing these portraits of Nihang Singhs (Guru ke laadle) from my time in India as a reminder of that spirit.

December isn’t about feeling heavy — it’s about remembering who we come from, and carrying that energy forward.

We played around with an acrylic sheet picked up from Amazon, and carefully drew patterns on it with Vaseline.
A simple two-light setup (a key and a background light with a gel), we let textures and colour distort into something almost painterly.

It gave us a mix of fashion editorial and fine art vibes
