Why does your camera have over 400,000+ actuations? Because some 30 frames were trashed to get this one shot thanks to the wave state moving me, my boat, the robo-mark (yellow), the young sailor and his boat… all moving in erratic directions.

Someone better in math than me (not much of a stretch) could tell me how much worse it is when using a telephoto lens at 650mm, when a millimetre in my mouvement is probably a meter off a moving subject seen through a moving frame. 🤢

My home base youth regatta is the Seahorse Youth Regatta Ashbridge's Bay Yacht Club. Been shooting this since its inception and volunteering with the same great people lead by Chairperson extraordinaire Angie Law, my fiercest protector of my work. Thank you Angie!

Again… shooting young kids and teenagers who are bravely sailing on a lake the size of an ocean, with conditions that don’t always mimic a sunny Miami Beach but rather a blustery English Channel passage, is truly a blast for me. Helping their parents see through photos what their kids are accomplishing out there, independently or with a crew mate, is very rewarding.

Some shots taken in early July Royal Canadian Yacht Club 2026 CyberSail youth regatta. Big thanks to Felicity Rodness for calling on me every year to do so. Always fun to kick off the summer sailing season with the kids and a great group of volunteers!

Day 2 of the 2026 FoilKingston Regatta 🌊 Kingston Yacht Club

Day 2 conditions proved challenging once again. Where there was wind Saturday there were storms ⛈️. Sunday was ☀️ all around but little consistency in 🌬️wind 😟. Mother Nature was teasing the fleet with short lived gust up to 10-12 knots, with little wind in between. Apparently it doesn’t take long for a foiling boat or wingboard to speed though a gust! 🤯

Both fleets, X-15 Class and WASZP TV /WASZP CAN knocked off a race each. Kinda. 🙄

Irene Bikker McNeill and her weCANfoil race officers tried everything including several ritual dances to the Wind God. We 👀 you Irene and team. Good on you! Thank you for trying!

While the conditions were fickle, race organizer and lead energizer bunny 🐇Sue Fraser of the Susan Fraser always remained upbeat. Thank you Sue for all that you do to build this sport.

Finally, thank you to all participants and to the Kingston Yacht Club for hosting. Can’t wait for FoilKingston 2027!

Day 1 of the 2026 FoilKingston Regatta 🌊 Kingston Yacht Club

Day 1 proved challenging not only for the competitors, but for the weCANfoil race organizers as well. The wind, weather, and wave conditions had more twists, turns, and surprises in a single hour than your favourite roller coaster.

Despite the ever-changing conditions, racers and organizers made the most of the day—getting familiar with the X-15 Class wingfoil equipment and successfully completing the opening race. 💪

The morning began with a review of the abbreviated starting sequence and race course layout, led by Susan Fraser Sue Fraser, and Race Officer Irene Bikker McNeill.

Following a few unscheduled and short lived warm-up sessions, competitors hit the water while the race committee kept a close eye on the action—from the comfort of semi-dry land! 😄

Here’s hoping Day 2 delivers on the forecast 🤞🌬️for the wings and WASZP CAN

A little late to the party…. What a year it has been watching you Max Bonin . Thanks to the opportunity provided by Synergy Hockey Management and Paige Dixon you made sweet sweet lemonade of the lemon you were handed late last August 2025. You took full advantage of the opportunity Stanstead College

You killed it academically. You nailed in with Stanstead Hockey . You made some lifelong friends while you were at it … and maybe added a brother or two or three eh renaud amongrain ?!?

McGill University Engineering can wait… let’s see what another year of hockey can bring you!!!
