Every time I paint or look through my camera's viewfinder, I try to capture that sense of epiphany, however temporary it may have been.

The audacity to use such dramatic expedition-style background music for a tape pull video 😜

Hope you enjoy! There’s a longer version, more slowed down to appreciate the ASMR a bit better posted to my YouTube.

I painted these 25 panels for an art exhibit, Artist Project, that finished in March 2026, and it’s been so exciting to see them all together as a set after-the-fact. Wonderfully, the majority of these paintings sold during the show, and the couple of remaining ones were snatched up shortly afterwards. My heart is so full!

All of these smalls, as well as a handful of others will be included in my upcoming fine art print release. If you’d like to get an email when these prints and any new originals go live, consider joining my email list!

Products I use (not an ad):
- Panels & the float frames shown at the end of the video are made locally in Toronto from Day & Night Woodworking
- I use FrogTape, the yellow delicate variety, for my painting edges and in my opinion, it’s the best
- I work with water mixable oil paint from Winsor & Newton

If you’d like to inquire about a commission (yes I do those!) please send me an email via my website! www.hannahmichellestudios.com

I had this reference photo sketched onto an 8x10” panel for about 2 years with every intention of painting it, but that didn’t happen. So when I started my recent smalls series for the Artist Project exhibition I had in March, I felt it was finally time 🍓

Interestingly, there’s a bit of lore to this strawberry basket because it’s same one I used to snap reference photos for my Strawberries painting, the ninth piece in the Sustenance Series.

Painting this had me definitively settle on the fact that painting baskets is no fun for me, haha. It reminded me of when I suffered painting the wicker basket for my painting Market Wealth 😅 Which also has another strawberry basket in it as well 🍓

I’m a big fan of working with contrast colours in my art. A lot of people think that red and green evokes Christmas themes, but there’s so many iterations of it that I’m obsessed with. Like pink and green. But I love the blueish toned hunter green of this strawberry basket with the vibrant red of these local Ontario strawberries. And as complex it can be to paint cellophane, I really do love the outcome!

This painting has sold BUT I’m working on a huge print release that will almost double my current print catalogue.

There will be 30 new fine art prints added to my shop, including all of the scenes I painted on the 6x6” small panels for Artist Project.

You can sign up for my newsletter on my website so that you get an email when the prints and any new original paintings go live! Just scroll to the bottom of my homepage and enter your email address.

Hi! I’m Hannah! 🤎 There’s so many new faces here that I’m reintroducing myself!

I’m from Ottawa and live in Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦

Growing up, I was always creative but what I wanted to be was an author. I’m a voracious reader (mostly audiobooks now-a-days while I paint) and while I dabble in most genres, I always go back to fantasy (leave me some book recommendations!!)

Some of my fave books are:
- Literally anything by Brandon Sanderson
- This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me by Ilona Andrews (newest fave!)
- The Devils by Joe Abercrombie
- Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy
- The Raven Scholar by Antonia Hodgson
- Dungeon Crawler Carl Series by Matt Dinniman
- The Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs (I’ve loved it since high school haha)
- Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
- Red Rising Saga by Pierce Brown
- Eragon by Christopher Paoloni (my gateway drug into reading as a teen)

And sooo many more haha (add me on Goodreads!)

My love for writing had me pursue a journalism degree from Carleton University, which I now use to write social media content 😜🙃 I’m mostly a self-taught artist but did attend an incredible year at the Ottawa School of Art from 2020-2021 for their year long portfolio certificate program and it was life-changing.

I have an amazing life partner, Sheldon, and an adorably weird Australian Shepherd, Moxie, my soul dog.

I co-own a residential painting company with my partner and run my home studio in every available moment around that.

I always take a photo of the sunset. Always.🌞

Aside from painting, I love to spend my time and money on plane tickets, gardening, adventures for my dog, unique dinners, backcountry camping and finding weird home decor on Facebook Marketplace or Etsy lol.

I have new painting and print releases a couple of times a year and the first people who hear about them are the lovely souls subscribed to my email list 💌 If you’d like to be in the first-to-know club, head to my website and scroll to the bottom to subscribe to my email list! I promise I don’t spam!

Here’s my start-to-finish process for one of these little 6x6” paintings, including how I install them in their float frames.

I sold my “Apricots On Tea Towel” painting at to a lovely collector, Zoe, and then she asked if I could paint a companion piece for it, why yes of course!

If I’d had more time to paint before the show, this scene was on my list, I love painting cherries and this red and white fabric is so fun, if it looks familiar it’s because I also used it for my “Limes On Red Stripes” painting.

Thanks to my amazing partner, who gave me the idea after listening to me lament about having all these pretty palette papers and not wanting to throw them away, a go-to practice of mine for about two years now has been to glue the palette paper on the back of the painting. In my mind, this adds to the lore of the art and shows so much of the journey of the painting process.

Even though I’ve been framing these 6x6” paintings, (panels and frames from ) I still like to keep to what’s become a more signature look of my work by painting the scene a 1/2” over the edge of the painting and using to have a crisp line.

I’m installing these little paintings in ash wood float frames, so you can still see a bit of the painted edge.

I use a trick I saw years ago on YouTube, and use playing cards in even increments to perfectly centre the painting inside the frame.

I used between 18 and 24 cards on either side of the painting, you just want to make sure there’s the same amount of cards on each side so that the painting is centred.

Because the cards are so snug, when you flip it over the playing cards stay put, Dairy Queen Blizzard style, and suspend the painting surface from the tabletop and you can use a drill and some screws to secure the painting into the frame.

If you’re interested, there’s a few of these little 6x6” paintings still available on my website and I do commissions!

Here’s to having friends who happen to be super talented photographers. Seriously go check out

I was super excited about this green turtleneck and leather pants outfit and then realized I had no photos of me in it until I received these pics and remembered a big group of lovely friends stopping by the show to say hello and Jimmy, naturally, had his camera with him.

I’m so blessed 🤎

These are all the smalls that found new homes this weekend! 🥰🙈

Still floating on cloud 9 post and it’s been so special packaging these little paintings up and getting them to their new owners!

What a WHIRLWIND!! 🤠🫨

I’ve had an introvert recovery day after the epic dream of my first time exhibiting with this weekend.

It was such an overwhelmingly positive 4 days and I’m SO GRATEFUL to everyone who stopped to say hi, share a kind word, admire the giant pickle painting (PICKLE COMMUNITY UNITE!) and even collect some art for themselves 🥹🥰

I’ve been selling paintings for years now, but honestly it’s still so surreal to paint something and have someone connect with it and decide they need it for their home. I love that the little glimmers of “mundane” joy I endeavoured to capture in my work earned themselves new homes this weekend. How awesome. I truly feel so blessed. 🤎🤎🤎

To the friends and familiar faces who popped by to express well wishes, it was so terrific to see you! I’m so buoyant today thinking about how lucky I am to exist within the community I have.

I had the loveliest booth mates / colleagues around me, what a privilege to be surrounded by such immense skill and experience and just genuinely kind and supportive people. .schultz.art It was also just so special to meet artists I’ve admired from afar for a while, reconnect with others and even collect paintings from .slevinsky and .ann.slater 😍

Thank you to the utmost levels to my amazing partner, my best friend and my incredible mom .matlar who all helped me throughout the weekend, kept me caffeinated, fed and were invaluable with their help chatting with people and setting up/tearing down the booth, I love you guys so so so much.

To who stopped to have such a lovely chat and spontaneous photoshoot with me and was so kind to send this rad photo of me (1st image) the next day, you rock and are a great photographer, thank you!

Thank you for having me! 10/10 experience 🥰💃🏽
