Not my typical organized session with the a planned aesthetic. Instead this is the raw, beautiful chaos I have the privelage to experience every day. Today, while watching the kids play in their little pool, I thought to myself "wow I'd love to capture this". So, I grabbed my camera, and I watched this core memory happen through the viewfinder. My backyard isn't perfect, and their outfits weren't meticulously planned, but this is the perfect example that we don't always need to go all out on planning or posing to have wall worthy photos.
These have easily become some of my favourite pictures of my kids simply just because of how candid and fun they are.
This is why I do what I do ❤️

I was only 14 when I got my first horse, and like Emerson, I wasn't handed a finished horse with a ton of mileage. I got to experience the hard, rewarding work of building a partnership from the ground up, learning together, making mistakes together, and slowly earning one another's trust. Looking back, that journey created a bond that was unlike anything else.

Spending the evening with Emerson and Scooter brought back a lot of those memories. At just four years old, Scooter is still at the beginning of his story, but you can already see the horse he's becoming. He's kind, willing, and an absolute gentleman. More importantly, you can see the foundation these two are building together, which is truly heart warming.

Years from now, the ribbons, milestones, and accomplishments will be wonderful memories for these two. But, my guess is that the bond they're creating right now will be the part that means the most to them.

I can't wait to see where this journey takes them, and the wonderful horse that Scooter is already becoming.

I say this time and time again, but your children do not need to sit perfectly still, smile at the camera, or “behave” for beautiful photos to happen.

In fact, the best moments are almost never the posed ones. They’re usually found in the laughter and chaos. These are the little moments you didn't realize you’d want to remember forever.

When you book a family session with me, I’m not expecting perfection from your children. I simply want you to play with them, and be present while I document this season exactly how it feels to you. Messy, busy, and full of love ❤️
