What started as a normal day heading to the Mall of Asia turned into my first-ever ambulance ride, a hospital stay, and a diagnosis: kidney stones. 🇵🇭

Excruciating pain, four rounds of meds, and a CT scan later, I’m about 90% recovered. Grateful for the medical team here, my crew stepping up in the clutch, my wife staying calm from the other side of the world, and prayers that came through.

Still medicating, still hydrating (the team won’t let me forget ), and we’re already back to shooting. Next stop: another province, a 6am departure, and a 6-hour drive.

People see the final frame. They rarely see what it takes to get it.

This is the other side. Hauling the rig through market crowds that don’t stop for anyone, working the coast, standing inside a castle with walls older than most of what we know, chasing light before it moved on us. Long days, heavy gear, a crew that stayed locked in through all of it.

Shooting in a place like this teaches you fast. You adapt, you move quick, and you let the country set the pace instead of fighting it. Every one of these frames cost something, and every one was worth it.

Akwaaba. That’s the first word that greets you in Ghana, and it set the tone for everything that came after.

From the second we stepped out of the airport the place refused to sit still. Independence Arch standing over the city, markets that displays the hustle, kids waving flags, horses tearing down the beach at full stroke.

We came with a shot list and a plan, and Ghana kept handing us things we never could have planned for.

This first drop is the arrival. The country before the work even started.

Where do I begin?

I’m sitting in a hotel room in Accra, Ghana, and I’m still trying to process how I got here.

They met us at the airport with sashes, hand-woven, our names embroidered into them. I held mine for a long minute.

You chase something long enough and it starts to feel like nothing is moving. Like you’re pouring work into a void. But if you believe it’s what you’re supposed to be doing, you stay with it. You figure it out. You pivot when you have to. You adjust.

It’s not a sprint. It’s a marathon.

The opportunity comes. Mine came, and it brought me here.

Thank God for this one. More to come as the days go on.
