What a ride! Ramping up before a wrap for our sports campaign!

Next year - back to dance 🤗

Some parents take 370 photos from the competition to never look at them again. Others book a special photoshoot to celebrate their child.

Some parents run out of space on the phone full of blurry leaps and proud smiles. Others keep a piece of their dancer’s childhood on their coffee table.

Some parents tell themselves they’ll print their photos “someday” until their kid is 22. Others order an album before the costume gets packed away for good.

Are you the parent who chooses hundreds of phone photos or the one who chooses an album sturdy enough to cry over?

A while ago I came across a Reddit thread about professional photos on dating profiles. A bunch of dudes giving each other advice and saying how it comes across as "trying too hard".

And one woman saying "actually, I really appreciate good photos".

Who do you listen to?

Having seen all the horrors of the dating app photos, just the fact you make an effort already puts you light ages ahead of 90% of guys who make 0 effort and expect a trophy.

If you're playing numbers, I'm probably not the right photographer for you.

If you care about getting better matches, I'd love to help.

Because instead of blending in and looking like everyone else, I help you stand out by being yourself.

What a crazy thought, eh.

If you're curious how we guarantee to make you look your best, always happy to chat!

Devotion of dance parents always amazes me - these dance photos usually matter more to them than to the dancer. Maybe because we get more perspective with age. What just “looks cool” when you’re 10 takes on a completely different meaning when you’re 40.

I know that these photos can become the foundation of kids’ confidence, and I feel very humbled and honoured to be a part of their journey

Once upon a time, I hated photos of myself.

I didn’t feel beautiful and I couldn’t stand looking at my photos. It felt like a fact, not a distorted opinion.

There's a whole decade of my life I have almost no photos of myself, because I was telling myself the story of “I’m better behind the camera”. And if I ever saw a photo of myself that I liked, I was convinced that it’s a lie, I don’t really look like that, and I’m a fraud.

Good thing is that I’m stubborn - so at some point I decided I didn’t like hating my photos and maybe I could try a new approach.

My approach was posing on camera until I felt good about it. But since I chose a scenic route - working with amateur photographers - it took quite a while. On a bright side, I learned everything about what not to do, and how to make anyone feel great about their photos.

Now photoshoots are my regular self-care. Call it vanity. Call it whatever - I don’t care. It feels great having too many good photos of myself.

“Hockey has taught me a lot about teamwork and how important that is in other parts of my life.” - Jackie, 9

Jackie enjoys that hockey is both competitive and fun, and she values the time she gets to spend with friends while playing on the ice. After 4 years of co-ed hockey, she encourages new players to keep trying, even when it feels challenging.

“Being a girl and playing with boys isn't always easy, but I love playing co-ed and I've made some really great friends. Stick with it and show that you belong on the ice with them.”

I hear from other photographers that it’s hard to direct people on camera…

Good thing I LOVE telling others what to do XD

And I truly love every step of the process, going from “I hate being on camera” to discussing what “looking good” means to each individual person. To choosing outfits. To playing with ideas and genres until it actually becomes FUN.

Everyone loves getting pampered with hair and makeup too, although I can’t take credit for that - it’s all thanks to my amazing hair & makeup artists!

And when we finally sit down to select the best images, it’s always a surprise for people to fall in love with more photos than they’ve expected…

As if I didn’t warn them!

This is such a special gift to a young dancer!

I bet she will never forget that time when she felt like a model for a day, and got a whole book of HER that says: you’re beautiful, you’re worth it, and we love you.

Would your dancer enjoy a gift like this?

Over 40 Series: Meet Viola, 60 - Early Child Educator, Former Banker, Mom, Singer

Viola was born in Guyana, the twelfth of thirteen children. In the early 1980s, she migrated to Canada with her parents, four siblings, a niece, and two nephews. Eight of them shared a one-bedroom apartment before everyone slowly built their own lives. Viola balanced work and school as a teenager, starting out at an insurance company and later moving into banking.

She married in the late 80s, having known her husband since their school days in Guyana. They raised five children together. After more than twenty years in banking, Viola lost her job while still supporting her children and her husband dealt with health issues. With few opportunities in her old field, she discovered second-career programs and retrained in early childhood education.

Viola found herself in classrooms surrounded by children instead of boardrooms. The work paid less but offered something else she hadn't felt before. Viola now works with children through a school board and a community program in Markham.

Her oldest daughter recently had a baby, and one of her twins is getting married soon. Family remains at the center of Viola's life, just as it was when she first arrived in Canada. She's also active in her Hindu community, often singing devotional or Bollywood songs and being involved in a lot of events like fundraisers. Tending her large garden is her "therapy."

Looking ahead, Viola hopes for quiet time after a lifetime surrounded by people. She also speaks openly about the challenges of finding work after a certain age, something she has seen reflected in other parents' experiences too. Honesty is a core value for her. She believes in speaking plainly, building trust, and connecting with families through shared experiences.
