Red and Ready

An early morning scene on Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada, made in the spring of 2025. Suzi and I were visiting for our 25th anniversary, and were thrilled that we arrived on the first day of canoe rentals for the year.

(This title might also be a fair description of how many Canadians are feeling with all the nonsense being slung their way.)

I will be showing a print of this image at the upcoming Danforth East Arts Fair Danforth East Arts Fair, happening Sept 19-20 at East Lynn Park. It’s my favourite arts event of the year, one I’ve been participating in since 2012. Please stop by and say hi!

Spin Cycle

Composite image adapted from a laundromat selfie made in early 2016. (Hard to see on a phone screen, but I am in there several times! 😊)

This September I celebrate 15 years of intentional work as a photographer. I feel very thankful for the journey and for everyone who has stuck with me and supported me along the way. I aim to keep expanding what I create as I move forward. This post is one small way of doing so.

A series of double exposures made around Yorkville in early December, 2025.

Don’t ask me how I chose these now, on a hot day like today here in Toronto. I follow what moves me as I dig through my images, and today it was these. Made, as the final image says, “with love”.

Many thanks to the City of Toronto to all the organizers behind the FIFA World Cup 26 Toronto Fan Fest. My family and I, and some 350,000 other fans attended the event over the 23 days that it was open. We had such a great time.

Here is a series of panoramic film photos that I made on June 20th with my Lomography Sprocket Rocket. Loved seeing K-OS perform live! Such a great performance. Thank you Kardinal Offishall and DJ Lissa Monet | DJ + Curator (both seen on screen in image 7) for keeping the crowd at peak energy!

Two scenes from outside Filmore’s, a long time Toronto institution (”gentlemen’s club”) that shut its doors earlier this year after 45 years at 212 Dundas Street East.

I’ve made quite a few images of this venue over the years. I have a funny story related to the sign at Filmore’s that I’ll have to share another time.

The Bad Angel
Meet Corey, one of the co-owners of The Bad Angel found at the corner of Brock and Dundas St W.

I was biking down Brock towards Queen and as I crossed Dundas looked over to my left. I’m pretty sure I said “No way!” under my breath as I noticed a very stylish man relaxing next to a colourful mural and a sign that says “Wine Vibes”. I came over to chat and learned that he and his partner started the Bad Angel cocktail bar earlier this year and that it was “the greatest decision of his life”. The unique name for the bar comes from a song that they co-wrote together.

I found more about them on blogTO:
“We love to host, and we care deeply about the experience of each guest who walks through the door,” Eden says. “We are in love with what this neighbourhood already has going for it: a vibrant mix of high-end restaurants, funky dive bars, and longstanding Portuguese businesses.”

Give The Bad Angel a visit and a follow! Unique local businesses like this are what makes life in Toronto a great experience. 👏🏻
