Bondi Produce & Specialty Foods | Crate Stack
If you live in Southern Ontario, chances are you’ve seen a Bondi truck out on delivery over the years or if you go out to a restaurant in Toronto, the produce the Chef is cooking with, yup, there’s a good chance it came from Bondi.
This family owned and operated business has been one of Ontario’s leading produce wholesalers for decades but it all started with a simple trip to the Ontario Food Terminal 50 years ago. The founder, Ignazio Bondi had recently immigrated to Canada and while trying to find his footing, he decided (with encouragement from his wife) to pack up his truck with some fruit and vegetables and start knocking on the doors of restaurants in Toronto. With no previous experience in produce, just a ton of ambition, he paved the path that has led his family to celebrating 50 years in business this year!
In honour of such an incredible milestone, I partnered up with Bondi to create images that celebrate all of the beautiful and delicious offerings they provide to thousands of businesses.
This photo shoot was particularly special for me as I was able to collaborate with my brilliant wife, Courtney who is the Marketing Manager at Bondi. We have long wanted to work together on a photoshoot, so it was truly magical to combine our skills and ideas for Bondi…
The idea that started it all was the leading image, “The Crate Stack”. These iconic forest green crates are essential to the business, so, it only seemed fitting to showcase them along with the produce it often holds.
The first challenge was getting these crates stacked in a way that was visually interesting and yet stable, so with the help of a few C-stands and wire, we were able to keep the crates in place as the produce weighed it down. That’s when the uber talented came in to style the crates with a bunch of produce. While Courtney and Haley worked away on styling each crate, and I worked on lighting the scene. It took a few hours of hard work and patience, but we got the shot we set out to capture and I’m super proud of everyone who helped bring this to life!
Stay tuned for more!
