Last month, I had the privilege to photograph the fantastical world of ceramics behind Laboratorio Paravicini. Nestled within an 18th century courtyard in the heart of Milan, every corner of this workshop presents a different collection of ceramics featuring themes from circus artists, zodiacs to intricate gardens and chinoiserie. A plate for everyone's taste!

A play on light and shadow from the streets of Paris.

Dripping ice cream cones on a hot, June afternoon, staying cool in the shade & a black suited waiter glides between tables at Cafe L'Etincelle.

Waiting.

As a photographer, when I travel I do my best to try and slow down. At some point it really can be overwhelming, with so many little detailed moments happening in every corner of my eye, and inside I get all excited wanting to capture as much as possible so as not to lose a moment! But I can now say, with more experience as an avid traveller and photographer, you learn to be a bit more patient. As with this photo - I was walking on the other side of the street and saw lots of commotion happening across the bar, people coming in and out, glasses and coffee cups clinking, people stopping and peaking in, waitresses floating around the doorway, so I waited. I knew something was going to happen, I could feel a moment was coming, and so I stood at the corner and waited. And there it was, the young waitress paused at the door of the caffe. Not only her stance but the look in her eyes - what was she thinking? Tired for one. Her gaze somehow made me feel as if she would rather be somewhere else....

For me this is one of my favourite photos I took in Florence last month, the image can tell a whole story if you let it.

Bologna, a university city and of course well known for its reputation of a foodies delight. But for me what always captivates me is the city's warmth from her terracotta walls and street after street of endless arcades. The hidden shops and corner tables with empty glasses from a daily dose of aperitivo and the necessary espresso cups to follow.

People biking left and right, guided by the orange alleys, endless doses of mortadella, summer concerts in piazza maggiore and a couple enjoying the music of the night.

The sweet owners at Drogheria della Pioggia stand proud of their shop and the generations its be around for, a fishmonger freshening up the best fish of the day, red aprons flowing in and out between hungry tables.

I've just returned from Europe and am still on a high from everything my eyes have seen and the people I've met.... travelling as a photographer you are always on a mission, obvious or not, to capture the essence of a place, its locals, culture and for me of course, to tell a story.
Honestly, so much has happened just within the past month its difficult to know where to begin but I think its best to start where it all took off, Milano.

I'll try to keep the story short! I came here last year in October because I had tickets to see the opera Rigoletto at La Scala with , simply to enjoy this gift to myself and the Milanese vibes. It was then that I took THE photo which won me the first place in the "World of Drinks" category at this year's World Food Photographer Awards. Walking through the galleria, one look at the two waiters hustling and serving, I felt everything align. This is the joy of being a photographer, simply showing up at the right place at the right moment, and I was fortunate not lucky.

A few months later, fresh from collecting my award in London, I return to Milan for a photoshoot & decided to pay a visit to the historical bar where the magic happened. Here I was, introducing myself to the team at Camparino and sharing a little piece of the victory with them. They were very generous to offer me a glass of their classic Campari spritz (serving since 1915) whilst photographing the beautiful Camaprino bar, my last night in Milan. With a refreshing bitter in one hand and my camera in the other, I found myself in the world of Camparino surrounded by not only my favourite colour but walls of lovely backlit Campari bottles... it sort felt as if I was stepping into a hidden corner as the streets slowly fell asleep, quiet and only this place was alive... but it also could have been my hidden excitement :)
I was given a little tour of their lovely location, told a brief history of the bar and drinks. I really felt honoured.
Full circle in a way!

Last night was a celebration for all the wonderful photographers at the 2026 World Food Photographer Awards in London!!! So many great people in one place, it was an honour to step onto the stage and pick up my award for my winning image "Campari Barmen" in the category for World of Drinks.

It is a very proud feeling to see your photographs beginning to be recognized and seen, let alone win as well! Thank you to all the judges, and for presenting the award last night!

Congratulations to all the talented photographers, all well deserved!
Now I have a large bottle Tattinger champagne to celebrate before heading back to Paris tomorrow :)

And a big thank you to all my friends and family for the support and encouragement, couldn't have done it without you ❤️

My image will be exhibited from June 3-7 in London at the Mall Galleries, if you're around you are welcome to go and see some excellent food photography.
