She almost stayed out of the photos...

Lesley booked spring family photos in the Toronto Beaches because she wanted relaxed photos of her boys.
But like a lot of moms, she wasn’t so sure about being in the photos herself.
So we kept it simple. We started at Kew Gardens, walked toward the beach, and let the boys play, laugh, skip stones, and be themselves.
And the best part?
The most meaningful photos weren’t just of the kids.
They were the ones that showed the relationship.
If you’re thinking about Toronto family photos this spring, comment FAMILY and I’ll send you my guide that helps you get natural family photos where everyone feels like themselves, including you.

Smiling in front of a pretty background has its place in a family photo session.

I will always try to get that photo.

It is useful for holiday cards, grandparents, and the frame everyone expects.

But years from now, the pretty background probably will not be the reason you reach for that photo.

You will probably be looking for something else.

The way your child leaned into you.
The laughing.
The clinging.
The little looks.
The chaos.
The connection.

That is what makes family portraits feel like your family, not just a nice place you stood in front of.

As an East York family photographer, this is a big part of how I approach family sessions. The location matters, but it should support the connection, not carry the whole photo.

If you are thinking about family photos in Toronto this year, I would love to help you make space for both: the photo everyone expects and the ones that bring you back.

Digital files can feel like the safest choice because they leave every option open.

And they do.

But for a lot of busy families, “we’ll print them someday” quietly becomes another unfinished task.

That is why my process does not stop at the gallery. I help families think through where their photos will live, choose the images that matter most, and turn them into something finished for their home.

Nothing wrong with wanting the files. I just do not want the best photos of your family stuck on a screen forever.

Ever looked up family photographers and thought…

“Wait, why are the prices SO different?”

You’re not alone.

Family photography pricing in Toronto can range from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand, and the difference usually has less to do with “just taking photos” and more to do with what happens before and after the session and what you're left with.

Are you getting a quick gallery?
Digital files?
Help choosing images?
Albums?
Wall art?
Guidance on what will actually work in your home?

I put together a simple guide explaining what affects the cost, what my $295 creative session fee includes, and what most families end up investing on finished artwork after seeing their images.

How much does family photography cost in Toronto? Learn what affects pricing, what a session fee covers, and how portraits become finished artwork.

The best family photos rarely come from kids standing perfectly and smiling on command. They usually come from movement, silliness, climbing, wrestling, cuddles, and the little moments where everyone forgets they’re being photographed.

Your kids do not need to perform. They just need room to be themselves.

Send this to the parent whose kid has never once “stood nicely” on command.

Mother’s Day is this weekend.

If she is usually the one taking the photos, this is a gift she actually gets to be part of.

Give the session now, choose the date together later, and I’ll help with the planning, the session, and what to do with the photos afterwards.

Warm, guided family portrait sessions for East York and east end Toronto families.

Session gifts begin at $295. Complete album gifts are also available.

Send me a message or visit the link in my bio to reserve hers.

Choosing a family photographer can feel simple until you actually start looking.

Then suddenly you are comparing styles, pricing, locations, digital files, artwork, and whether anyone can handle your toddler’s current relationship with pants.

I put together a post with five questions to ask before booking a family photographer in East York, Toronto, or wherever you live.

It covers what to look for in the photos, what to ask about pricing, why the finished result matters, and how to know if someone is the right fit for your real family.

Not the perfectly behaved imaginary version.

The real one.

Searching for the best family photographer in East York? Learn what to look for, typical session costs, and why professional family photos are worth it. Create lasting memories with the right photographer!

Spring family photos just hit different 🌿

Everything feels lighter, softer, and a little more alive this time of year. The greens are fresh, the colors are beautiful, and the whole session feels less about “perfect poses” and more about real connection.

Spring is such a sweet season for:
• updated family photos
• playful moments with your kids
• meaningful Mother’s Day gifts
• artwork you’ll actually want on your walls

If you’ve been thinking about booking, let this be your sign to let spring live on a little longer 🤍

You might be waiting for the “perfect” time for family photos… but spring might be it.

The colours are softer, the air feels lighter, and everyone is a lot happier outside before summer heat kicks in.

Avoid the fall rush and learn why this underrated season might be perfect for updating your family photos.

Why do I love spring family photos? Soft light. Fresh colour. Comfortable weather. Happy kids. And photos that feel bright, easy, and full of movement. It is one of the best times of year to create images that feel natural and look beautiful in your home.
