🇵🇹 Imaginem uma paisagem vasta e deserta, e de repente, no meio do nada, ergue-se esta formação geológica - o Factory Butte - rodeada por uma imensa área de badlands, com um topo plano e paredes quase verticais. Parece que estamos noutro planeta. 🤯
A nossa ideia era fotografar aqui ao pôr-do-sol para conseguir a melhor luz, mas tínhamos o carro estacionado no Moonscape Overlook.
Para lá chegar seguimos uma estrada de terra batida que passa ao lado do Butte, e até aí tudo bem. Só depois de cortar em direção ao Moonscape é que percebemos no que nos tínhamos metido: 5 km pela que é provavelmente a pior estrada que fizemos em toda a viagem. Esta estrada tínhamos sempre que a fazer duas vezes: para lá chegar, que já tínhamos feito, e para ir embora no dia seguinte. Voltar ao Butte para fotografar ao pôr do sol e regressar para dormir acrescentava 2 viagens, e com medo de estragar o carro, decidimos ir a pé.
Vimos um casal que claramente não ia passar ali a noite, e como tinham que seguir pelo mesmo caminho e passar mesmo ao lado do Butte, perguntámos se nos davam boleia, e levaram-nos na boa.
Quando estávamos a regressar, tínhamos começado a caminhar há pouco, passa um carro, perguntaram-nos se estava tudo bem e o que andávamos ali a fazer à noite e acabaram por nos dar boleia.
Resumindo, estávamos a contar fazer 5km para cada lado para fazer esta foto, mas no final não andámos praticamente nada. Obrigado pelas boleias 🫡
🇬🇧 Imagine a vast, deserted landscape, and suddenly, in the middle of nowhere, this geological formation rises up - the Factory Butte - surrounded by deep gullies and sharp ridges carved by erosion, with a flat top and almost vertical walls. It feels like we're on another planet. 🤯
Our plan was to photograph it at sunset for the best light, but our car was parked at the Moonscape Overlook.
To get there, we followed a dirt road that passes right by the Butte, and that part was fine. It was only after turning towards the Moonscape that we realised what we'd gotten ourselves into: 5km of what is probably the worst road we've driven on the entire trip. Either way, we'd have to drive that road twice: once to get there, which we'd already done, and once to leave the next morning. Driving back to the Butte for sunset and returning to sleep would add 2 trips, so, not wanting to risk damaging the car, we decided to walk.
We spotted a couple who clearly weren't spending the night, and since they had to follow the same road and pass right by the Butte, we asked if they'd give us a lift, and they did.
On the way back, we'd barely started walking when a car pulled up, they asked if we were okay and what we were doing out there at night, and ended up giving us a lift too.
Long story short, we were prepared to walk 5km each way for this photo, but in the end we barely walked at all. Thanks for the lifts 🫡
