When it rains just before your wedding ceremony begins you have 3 choices:

1. Decide to hold off for half an hour. Pull guests from their seats, and sprint for cover. Hope that given 20-30 minutes the worst of it will roll over.

2. Rapidly pivot to an alternative covered location (providing you have one?) Everyone jumps up, and rushes to the other spot.

3. Say "F**k it", and get married anyway. Maybe as you are literally walking down the aisle, your groomsmen will rush and grab the janky camping tent that had been utilized earlier in the day to keep your signing table dry.

Maybe they place it at the head of the aisle to cover you-- not exactly the most aesthetic decision-- but at least you, your wedding party, and Officiant will stay dry-ish. Your guests might be absolutely drenched but will manage to survive (the joy in their hearts keeping them warm)

Maybe exactly as you are signing the documents making it official, the rain will stop and you might be able to walk back down the aisle as newly weds with the sun peaking out through the clouds.

Maybe.

10 years ago I photographed these two saying 'I do' at the foot of Red Mountain. Yesterday I had the honour of photographing them in their cozy backyard as they said "We still still" after a decade of marriage.

10 years. 4 incredible kids. Same joyful smiles... Same photographer!

Congratulations, Bergen and Sara! 🥂 Being invited back time and time again to capture your biggest milestones has been one of the greatest pleasures of my career. I appreciate you-- and all of my returning clients- more than I can say.

You might not think that photos of your wedding speeches/toasts are necessary.. But believe me when I say that this is one of the best opportunities of the entire day to get emotive, heartfelt, candid photos of you and your guests.

Asking clients to find and make bouquets for each other during their engagement session is probably my new favourite prompt.

Don't let the fear of getting your wedding dress dirty stop you from having fun (and great photos) on your wedding day.
