Awwww my heart! I startled this itty bitty newborn fawn and it fell in a deep ditch and the mama ran off. So I was worried about it trying to get out of the ditch on its own, grabbed some gloves so my scent didn't get on her and moved her somewhere safer to wait for mama to come back. πŸ’•

Some of the writings in my new book were written 10 years ago, some just for the book, and others in between! You might remember when I wrote this post in 2017. It has all come full circle because she has since passed away also and she is the one who gave me all the info about the abandoned farm that started it all for me and is featured heavily in the book!

"So many meals eaten at a small oval table, big enough for two. Lovely meals shared with a lovely view. Decades of conversation and laughs and tears. The owner of this lonely hat died within the last 30 years. His hat and clothes left in the dark, never to be worn again. He never had any kids to share this view with, but he did leave behind a fiancΓ©e who makes sure his lawn stays mowed, something he always took pride in. From the outside you would never know what's actually on the inside. I was in shock when I first entered, rooms piled high with stuff. Most of it junk and garbage, but some of it lingering reminders from the past, memories of a life once loved. Each room I pass, the bigger the house gets. It's hard to believe only one man lived here. Looking through his belongings after hearing stories about him from his fiancΓ©e and the longer I am in this house, the more connected to him I feel. A true gentleman, I know she suffered an incredible loss when he left her behind. She is a religious lady who didn't believe in living with someone until they were married. He died before that day came, but he made sure to leave his house in her name. She has her own home she wants to spend the rest of her days in, so sadly, this house was just left alone...she didn't need the money, and she couldn't give it up in case it meant losing the last thing that remains of him on this earth. So for decades it sat alone, rotting from the inside out. Too far gone now to ever be saved. Now resembling chaos and decay, a once warm and colourful home now just seems cold and grey."

One dog taught me how to explore. The other taught me how to slow down. Somehow, it feels like Jazzy opened the door and invited Izzy into the story. 🌈❀️

πŸ“š Still Standing: Time Passed Through Us Differently is officially ready for the next stage! πŸ“š

This book has been 12 years in the making since I started photography! Now after months of writing, editing, and gathering photographs, my book is finally ready to be sent for professional editing, formatting, and cover design.

Now I need your help to get it across the finish line.

If you know you'd like a copy, I'm accepting ✨pre-orders✨ to help cover the final production costs. Every pre-order goes directly toward making this book the best it can be.

Because the manuscript is still being finalized, I don't have many sneak peeks to share just yet, and I won't know the exact final cost until I know the page count. Right now, I'm estimating:

πŸ“– Paperback: approximately $30
πŸ“˜ Hardcover: approximately $40

Shipping is still unknown, but based on the size of the book, I estimate it could be up to $20. If any of these costs change, I'll keep everyone updated before finalizing orders.

This book is deeply personal to me. It's a collection of photography, stories, memories, loss, healing, abandoned places, and the journey that photography helped me survive. I want to make sure it is professionally edited, beautifully designed, and something you'll be proud to own.

The final steps will cost approximately $400–$500, which I just don't have available right now. If you've been following this project and know you'd like a copy, your support would mean the world to me.

Thank you for believing in me and this book!
