LOON EGGS, now before you get your knickers in a knot, this shot was taken on my 100-400mm lens (fully zoomed in)+ I have a 1.4 teleconverter on it and shot is super cropped. Physically getting this close to an active nest is not cool at all. The Loons could abandon their nest and that is awful. So don't be a jerk if you happen upon one and decide to get closer. Thank you.

A nesting Loon. Yes she's on the nest and it's close to shore. Loons don't walk on land, they're not accomplished walkers. A Loon's legs are too far back on their body to walk, they scootch onshore on their bellies. Now you know.
