A day I’ll never forget ! A massive iceberg decided to visit Little Harbour .. in a very big way !! The excitement of such a mammoth iceberg, snuggled against the rugged cliffs bordering the shoreline of Little Harbour, caused a flurry of constant viewings, great fun and loads of unique photos !

Folks flew, walked, drove & hiked immense distances to see one of the greatest sights to ever grace Iceberg Alley. I climbed that mountain every single day, sat with my packed lunch and enjoyed all the happy commotion this fabulous iceberg so wonderfully brought along with it.

It was an unforgettable experience that I feel so fortunate to be a part of. Now … we just need another friendly berg to cosy up to those same rugged cliffs again ! 🧜‍♀️

Quite a lovely morning ! For the first time in days the snow isn’t gusting around my feet, the temperature is certainly doable and plenty of pastel colours are doing their best to decorate the dawn sky !

With a wee walk about in the fluffy snow, small birds fluttering high and low and larger ones sailing contentidly through the colouring book clouds, it was quite the pleasant early morning activity !!

Happy Saturday ! 🧜‍♀️

Photographing my beautiful old friend in a deep winter sleep. Maybe it doesn’t look too cosy for us, but I’m pretty sure the old boat is dreaming of an open ocean, streaming sunshine and the continuous salty splashes of waves striking the bow.

Here in the silence and deep chill of a January evening, the beloved old relic appears contented and peaceful - watched over by the sliver of a golden moon in the clear night sky.

Dusk has fallen quickly, leaving just a glimmer of light low over the horizon. Soon the stars will also shine, one by one, like alien night lights, ensuring pinpricks of bright light keep company with our sleeping friend.

Dream on, I shan’t disturb you further ! 🧜‍♀️

Tickle Point can get pretty wild and windy ! Sitting inside my warm car wave watching is one of my favourite pastimes.

Seagulls did and dive amongst some of the wildest seas out on the point, seemingly oblivious to the screaming gales, crashing waves and freezing cold. I don’t know how they do it, much less how they manage to catch anything !

Myself - I can barely stand up in it long enough to get a good pic ! I know for sure I’d never catch my breakfast in all that frozen turmoil !! 🤣🧜‍♀️

It was another Christmas Card morning, complete with freezing conditions, an awesome sunrise, and smooth mounds of bright, white, layercake snow.

It’s hard to resist the outside when I see the sun begin to rise beyond the hillside, with flaming colours spreading gloriously upwards towards the bright blue morning sky.

The cold is relentless, and one must gear up completely just to nip outside for a few photos. Even then, the January chill finds its way inside the many layers of clothing, mittens, scarves, and ear-flap hats.

But steaming hot coffee and cuddly, warm cats are waiting just inside the snow encrusted doorway, so it’s definitely all worth it !! Good Morning ! 🧜‍♀️

Last night the dark sky came alive with a kaleidoscope of colour ! Winds were whipping up a storm of snow flurries, Jack Frost was hiding in every nook and cranny - not to mention snow drifts that were easily knee deep (& deeper in places as I found out ! 🤣)

But no mind - the Auroras were shimmering, shining, shifting and swaying. Their surreal colours chased away the inky darkness and lit up the entire town.

What an exciting adventure through the snow drifts, biting cold and relentless winds ! I wouldn’t miss them for the world ! 🧜‍♀️

As you coast down the hill into this beautifully quaint little town, a wonderland of frosty delights begin to magically appear.

Seemingly straight out of a Christmas card, with backdrops of snowy majestry and snug, colourful houses clinging like holiday ornaments to hillsides, shorelines and pathways - a feeling of happy nostalgia fills the crisp, winter fresh air.

With a sharp intake of pleasantly surprised breath, you begin to take in the sights and sounds of such an enchanted vista - snowflakes gently falling, rippling waves grazing the fancy kelp formations all along the coastline, setting them to swirl lazily in the afternoon tide. And then, no louder than a whisper, the faraway chatter of bundled up walkers, enjoying the very best of an exquisite January stroll.

Pure joy lives here, all around you, in picturesque nooks and crannies, just waiting to be discovered, neither hurried, bustling or busy - just waiting for you to pass by - and find the solitary peace contained within ! 🧜‍♀️

Another morning-scape that brightened my entire kitchen ! I was sipping coffee, browsing my phone, cats playing here and there around the living room when I noticed a bright pink glow filling the other room. Grabbing my phone I rushed out into a winter wonderland scene, so lovely it was difficult to leave !

Columns of colours stretched skyward like great plumes of rosy pink smoke, whilst more vivid hues hugged the horizon and grew deeper as the sun nudged further from its bed behind the hillside.

Crows cawed, snow sparkled and the ocean washed against the shoreline in sluggish, ice-filled wavelets. If not for my frozen fingers I would have stayed for the full show ! Mother Nature at her finest ! 🧜‍♀️

After the storm and its red sky in the morning … again !! Well, technically it’s a cotton candy, pink sky so maybe sailors (and myself) don’t have to take warning !! Let’s keep the red out of it !

At this point, as much as I love the stunning sunrises, if it means monstrous winds along with power outages, I’m happy with a grey morning or two .. or three !

Just the same, it’s stunningly gorgeous outside, frosty cold and beautifully colourful ! Hopefully the much welcome sunshine will arrive later today !

Happy Tuesday ! 🧜‍♀️

A chilly and dark dawn greeted the morning light, but with the full power of the rising sun pouring through the early gloom. Monstrous grey clouds floated pass lighter, brighter ones, doing their best to dominate the frosty sunrise.

Thankfully, the puffy golden clouds won, allowing the beautiful sun to shed its gleaming rays through the myriad of moving & shifting darker ones, and the day began to fill up with a much prettier atmosphere !

By mid morning it was all clear - blue sky spread over the landscape and ocean alike, allowing the pale January sunshine to warm the earth in gentle cycles. Icicles shone like great frozen ribbons, snowflake sprinkled bushes sparkled with diamond studded light and lingering pathways lit up like gleaming runways, awaiting walkers brave enough to go for a frosty stroll ! 🧜‍♀️

I love the lost and lonely feeling this photo depicts. Of course the resting place of the solitary boat is neither of the two, but a healthy imagination always takes precedence in most of my descriptive work - and it’s so much fun !

I see a tired fisherman, finished with his catch for the day, pulling his boat to safety for the night and happily heading off to a warm dwelling, ready to enjoy a delicious hot supper !

The working day wanes, taking most of the daylight along with it. Thick evening clouds roll in - vivid colours replacing bright sunlight, giving the scene an abandoned persona. Wild winds whip the ocean into a frigid frenzy, flattening beach grasses and sending the many seabirds to settle safely for the night.

Imagination is a beautiful thing and pairs so well with a good photograph !!

Happy Friday ! 🧜‍♀️
